Apologies for the drop in getting all of these shows posted. Life has been well… life. We resume now with the Afterhours 2011 sets. Up now is DJ Marcuis. This is his second showing at Afterhours and he totally out did himself. For the next two and a half hours, your face will be melted by a true master of house. Getting his start as a college DJ at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, Marcuis Wade (a.k.a. DJ Marcuis) has been a pure connoisseur of great music. With a college friend, DJ Marcuis began performing at local college parties in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Devoting himself to finding radical Christian music, DJ Marcuis focuses on bringing a blend of gospel house, urban gospel, gospel reggae and holy hip hop. In 2007, DJ Marcuis created Cross Culture radio, a 1 hour radio program that featured the latest in urban gospel music seamless mixed on several stations on the east coast. Currently, DJ Marcuis continues to promote and expand Cross Culture Radio and minister across the east coast.

<itunes:summary>If there is any one thing you can expect from Cornerstone, it’s that the schedule never stays intact. Fifteen minutes before DJ Sciencedrop was supposed to go one, we ran into a technical glitch. After a short debate, Dave Richards ran back to the camp to get his gear. DJ Eleasar has been a dance music artist since 2008. His main styles are Progressive Trance and Goa Full-on, but he also enjoys Minimal and Progressive Techno. Before he became a DJ he was involved in the Techno and Goa Trance scenes since 1996, so he certainly knows what rocks a dancefloor. As a talented newcomer, he’s played at several techno parties, some clubs & festivals, and a few lounge and radio shows. When he plays, his set’s are characterized with powerful driving beats. He creates deep and dreamy atmospheres with string sounds and other melodies, sometimes with acoustic sounds (guitar) as well as uplifting prophetic samples, which have roots in his Faith in Christ.
Night 3 rolls on with our headliners: Greg “Stryke” Chin. A regular here at the Afterhours event, Greg specializes in blending techno, tech house and just about anything else with a loop in it. Greg is one of the best technical djs you will ever have a chance to see and is constantly updating his act. This time around Greg ditches the turntables in favor of 2 Native Instruments Kontrol X1’s and one CD deck. As usual, his MacBook Pro is sporting the latest edition of Traktor. With a packed house, Greg picked up the pace from exactly where Dave left it and brought the tent down by 1:30. Oh… and this was the night of our many noise complaints. Our apologies to Chariot, Flatfoot 56 and whoever else we annoyed. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Stryke began his music career at an early age. He started playing classical piano at the age of four. Moving to Miami, Florida (where he still resides) when he was ten, Stryke became heavily involved in early electronic alternative scene. His love for Beethoven and Chopin were quickly joined by his new love for groups such as Depeche Mode and New Order (not to mention an unhealthy addiction to video games, which he still has to this very day). Buying his first synthesizer at age 12, Stryke quickly learned the ways of synthesis and began writing electronic music with his trusty monophonic Roland SH-101 synth.

He soon discovered house and techno from a mix tape given to him by his cousin, a DJ in New York. He was hooked. At age 14, the young Stryke had already begun DJing to make money to buy more synth equipment. But after discovering this new underground dance music, he became as passionate about DJing as he was about making music.

Dave Richards has been producing a mixture of tribal, tech and progressive music for about ten years now. He has had releases on Next Dimension Music, PWM Records, Deeplife Records and more. Dave has worked with many producers over the years including Van Lazarux, Dima, Sheltershed, Aesias Finale and more. His work is respected by Shiloh, Greg ‘Stryke’ Chin, Tim Richards, Joel Armstrong and many others. In 2002, he became the owner of Tastyfresh.com and since then has developed the site’s name and favorable reputation across both the Christian and secular scenes. 2007 marked a huge change for Dave as he became the host of Tastyfresh Presents… which is a podcast that features DJs and producers who also happen to be Christians.
