i have started to move into learning piano and working with my keyboard and my vsti’s via daw. My daw allows me to compose midi but i would like to record “live”. what are my options. It is quasi live recording as the notes will be placed exactly as i play them and then mix downs will be an exact replica… but, i am itching to really create layers and compose more of a natural and improvisational recordings..

ideas ???

so… you’re just recording through a piano midi controller?  not sure what you’re trying to do to be honest.  i mean, most DAW allow you to record what you play on the fly, they just plunk it down in the piano role as you play it.
