Oneel's Take:

Next Dimension really has been putting out some quality music lately. It seems that dividing the label into different parts was exactly what they needed to do. When offered the chance to review one of the newest releases on NDM, I naturally jumped at the chance.

This release features two tracks. The first is entitled "Blue Process". It's a sexy sounding deep progressive track that I would expect to hear in some swanky lounge around South Beach. Two minutes into the track, this song takes off in another direction. Whereas the listener was convinced that it was going to be another sexy deep track much along the bloodlines of a Hed Kandi release, Nicko adds in a tougher sounding lead that really makes this track jump. Nicko's obviously up on his current music trends, because the background is filled with Deadmau5-like granular percussion.

However, I don't particularly care for the pads that come in around the 4 minute mark because something just seems "off" about the sequence. The sounds feel out of place with the rest of the track. The breakdown is nice and clean and doesn't jump back too hard. The flow is excellent. Overall, I enjoyed this particular track.

"White Process" is the second track in the release. It begins with an ambient-type lead in, focusing on some nice string swells and unique percussion. The beat kicks in around 30 seconds in to get things moving along. This is deep progressive house in the most classical sense. The big string swells, the rumbly percussive bass, and delicate top lines are reminiscent of Leftfield and older Sasha-type work. I can picture someone like M.A.N.D.Y. playing this in a set, mixing it with some minimal techno for a change of pace. Nicko has obviously spent a good amount of time crafting the sounds for this track, because each one comes through with crystal clarity. I do feel that maybe this track goes on a bit too much, though. He could have shaved a good 45 seconds off the track and still had the same impact. However, this is a nice, solid release.

Once again, NDM delivers the goods. While there is nothing that really just jumps out at me in this release, it's a solid release that I enjoyed. This is a label I look to for quality every time, and every time I get what I expect. Nicko's work is very good and definitely worth a look if you play progressive house or minimal.
