Oneel's Take:

I'm aware that NDM stands for Next Dimension Music, but I think it may also stand for Never Disappointing Music. Why? Because this label always comes through. Andrew Chibale provides this release on NDM. After doing a bit of research, it seems that Andrew comes to this release with a bit of acclaim, so it was my pleasure to give this release a listen.

The first track is "Better Days", the title track of the EP. After the mix-in time, the first thing that catches my attention is the bass. It's very big and heavy. Unfortunately, this seems to muddy the track just a bit. The bass is just so overpowering that it makes it difficult for me to pay attention to the nice filter sweeps and top sequences he's created. This track also could use more variation. It never really seems to go anywhere. Normally, sort of repetitive tracks don't bother me, but this one fails to catch my attention. I moved on to the second track in the EP, looking for something special.

Track two is called "Fantastico". It opens up with a nice kick sequence and some interesting radio tuning sounds. A massively funky bass line hits at 47 seconds in, and this track is sounding pretty awesome. Unfortunately, just as in "Better Days", the sub bass sounds muddy this track up and overpower the mix. I'm as much of a sub fan as anybody, but it ruins the track in this case. If Andrew had left things alone at the first bassline, this track would be awesome! It has movement, depth, clean tops, and serious floor potential. However, I just can't get past the sub. This track has potential to be a big track if that one problem was just reined in a bit.

NDM still hasn't disappointed me. I just wish Andrew had spent a bit more time on mastering this track or perhaps had gotten some fresh ears on it. "Fantastico" is a great track, but the sub kills it. I look forward to Andrew's next release to see if this is a continual problem, or a one-time anomaly. These tracks won't make their way to my crate, but some of you could enjoy these.
