The Vitals:Label: YoYo Records Factor Scores:Production Quality: 8.7 Carl's Take:When I started this assignment, I didn't know what I was in for. However, when I popped the album on, it started to grab my attention. The release contains 9 tracks. Three are Fatali remixes of tracks by other producers; the remaining six are remixes of Fatali tracks. Fatali kicks off the release with his remix of Son Kite's "Let Us Be". It has killer production, nice sweet sounds, and great progression. Track 2, "Deep (Lish remix)", lost me a little. The sounds were not as appealing to the ear, and it was a bit too edgy. But the build-ups were great. The intro on "Booster (Echotek remix)" is very nice and slides right in. The sounds are smooth, and the beat cuts through nice without being to crisp (e.g., 808). The bassline is thumping, and the sounds in the middle frequencies are so sweet. This track would make nice background noise deep in the mix. I was really impressed with the deep start on the fourth track, "Homeless (Protoculture remix)". What a kick! And the bassline thumps! The synth line in the middle of the track is awesome: really nice strings and stuttered synth. With some nice funky fills to it, "If We Touch (Strike Twice remix)" is more uplifting then the usual deep trance, yet it's still eerie enough to get lost in and dream or reflect. It's a nice midpoint track for a breather before moving into very nice bouncy sounds. As the title says, Fatali's remix of Protoculture's "Sweet Fine Crystal Line" is sweet and fine. It's got a very sweet, deep melody, a banging beat, and nice sound scapes. The drops in this track are amazing and hit you all of a sudden. This album just gets better and better. Fatali brings the listener to a nice calm point with his remix of Oforia's "Headed For Infinity". But then it builds into a 80's type riff and thumps into hard build-ups, similar to Tiesto's version of "Silence". The hi-hats stand out. There's a nice 303 sound in there before stepping into funky riffs again. It would be nice to wake up to track 8, "Dawn (Atomic Pulse feat. DJ Ta-Ka remix)". The sounds are so sweet. Closing out the album, "Ocean View (Liquid Soul remix)" has some nice glitch sounds for the last wind down. The choir elements, the build-up, and the drops still get me right till the end. The amount of sounds throughout this album is amazing. My final take on this album: I was extremely impressed by it. The production quality is top-notch, and it kept my attention the whole way through. I definitely would recommend it to any trance lover or to someone wanting to get into that style or spin it at their next gig. |
