Dunamis' Take:

Superstar, the third EP from the young German producer Thomas Wagner (aka Tomic), features four tracks of pure progressive house. Tomic's previous two EPs—entitled EP 1.2 and Inside The Flow—received much-deserved support from around the globe and was charted by Hernan Cattaneo.

The first track, "Superstar", starts out laid back with a nice cool vibe, with eerie background vocals to add effect and compliment the main synth. With the drums introduced, Tomic brings in the progressive vibe and gets the song rolling, keeping it going and somewhat funky. With the breakdown, the track goes into calm ambiances and the drums come back to take the song out.

"Lost in Music", the second track, starts more upbeat vibe with nice effects. This track keeps to a calm, laid-back progressive atmosphere. Delayed one-hits, coarse leads, and congas keep this track going.

Finally, "Press It" keeps it minimal first off but deviates more to a house, funky swing compared to the others on this EP. I like the 303ish lead and distorted bass in this track.

Overall, I like this EP. It's very nice, progressive, and calming. The nice use of effects, one-shots, and other elements keep it interesting. I feel though that I lose interest sometimes with some monotonous spots in all three tracks. They need more evolving and structure. Other than seeming dull at times, these are great tracks. If you like this genre, then these will be good tracks to throw in the mix for sure. Nice minimal, progressive sounds from this EP.
