My name is Alex Wilson and as Dave Richardson announced last issue, I have taken over the reigns of the Tastyfresh.com magazine and let me tell you, the staff and I have got so much new stuff that I know you will love. But before going into all of the new things in this issue, I want to thank Dave Richardson for asking me to take this position. It is an honor and I will be doing my best to make this magazine better then ever. This issue is a bit small because I am still getting settled in. This issue also does not have a Drop. I am currently talking with a few people about editing that section. We are also already working on the next issue, so expect that one to be full of great stuff. Please bear with me for the time being. First thing I want to explain is how I got to be in this new position. My original position was editor of The Drop column starting back in 2005. I noticed that the magazine was lacking a Drop for several issues, asked Dave about it and decided to take that column on. My plan was, and still is, to bring in leaders in the industry and bring a little bit of their wisdom to those up and coming. I continued that work until I left for England in January of this year for my missionary training course. When I returned, I noticed things were changing immediately. After talking with Dave R. for several weeks on and off, he asked me to take the entire magazine on. After praying for several days, looking at how it would fit in with the rest of my ministry in England, I took it on. Next is the new column. We are introducing the spiritual side of our community with the column. We are doing this because we have been dealing with the practical side of DJing, producing and the like since the spiritual discussions were banned on the forums a few years ago. I remember that time, it was not a good thing and we as a community were not acting in a way that pleased Christ. I have wanted to start the spiritual side again for sometime and I feel that this magazine should encourage us in our faith just as the articles train us in our craft. We are starting this new column with an article entitled The Price of Discipleship. I wrote this for 2 reasons, the first is because God laid it on my heart and I think we as a community and as individuals need to hear it and because it is one of my favorite topics, second only to the Father Heart of God. If God places anything on your heart that you want to share as a part of this column, please do not hesitate to contact me either through email or through private message on the message boards. Also in this issue is an article by Dave Richardson about some of the changes that are taking place in the website itself. Dave has devoted much of his time in the last 5 years to this site and has done an amazing job. If the past gives us any idea of what the future holds for us in these changes, it is going to blow us all away. I am so excited to see those changes and how those changes bring us into the future. Lastly, we have an article from DJ Pat D about how to start a Groove Fellowship. These Groove Fellowships are so important because it takes the community we have online and puts it into real life. Dave talked about this in an article about Cornerstone 2007. It brings those people who live the same area together so that they can do what God wants to do in that area. His article describes some of the things that he and the So Cal Fellowship think are key in starting a lasting Groove Fellowship. I used some of the same principles when I started my small group and they do work. Thanks for coming by and if you have anything you feel we as staff could do better, please do not hesitate to contact me. We want this magazine to be relevant to you, to have at least 1 article per month that will be something you can apply, either in your craft or your faith. If we don’t get your feed back, we cannot do that. So please send us your thoughts and comments. |
