It's time for Episode the 8th. This time around we're crossing the great pond of the Atlantic again to visit some friends in Europe. This time around it's Rubik Records own Aorta and Digital Coma Recordings' Mistadool. Sonically, we're hitting you this month with electro and funky house for the first hour and some liquid and funky drum and bass for the second. Sit back and relax, because it's going to be a nice ride this time out.
Air Date:August 2007 Hour 1: Aorta (www.aortalife.com)
The last two years have seen Aorta extensively tour the UK playing at both Christian and mainstream events, as well as take in dates in the US and Europe, most recently in the dance capital of the world - Ibiza. Still to come this year are various festival appearances alongside such other DJ's as Andy Hunter and Coldcut, as well as a return to Ibiza and New York. In 2005 Aorta released their debut EP 'Love Hope Future' through Rubik Records. 2008 will see Aorta primarily pursuing solo projects but they will be re-teaming for a weekly radio show to be broadcast in the UK (as well as to the world over the internet). A new EP is also still in the pipeline. This mix was recorded live to a full house at Dogma, Lincoln on the 5th August 2007 and features Aorta's usual blend of electro and funky house flavors. Hour 2: Mistadool (www.mistadool.com)
He was fond of mixing the fast and hectic beats of drum and bass with tuneful, atmospheric, and funky sounds, surfing on the paradox of extremes. No wonder Liquid Funk came as a revelation, and Mistadool was glad to find his music naturally fitted the genre. Inspired by the likes of Kubiks, London Elektricity, Logistics, DJ Marky and Nu:Tone, he released his first official tracks in 2006, with a remix EP on the French independent label Premiere Partie, soon followed by releases on Black Reign Recordings (USA), and Digital Coma Recordings (Estonia), with the brand new 'SUNNY DAY EP'. More releases are scheduled for the coming months. His best-known tracks include 'Too Late' (BRR) and a remix of Chup's beautiful 'Through the sky' which was aired repeatedly on Hospital's award-winning podcast. You can hear DJ Mistadool's mixes on a growing number of radios, podcasts, and venues of the new drum and bass scene. |

Aorta is a UK based DJ/Producer team BenniJ (Galactus Jack) and Si.D, who along with New York based producer Andy Searle Barnes have been exploring DJ led worship for the past 6 years. Aorta have a passion to see Christians 'keep it real' and get into the world whilst maintaining a 24/7 lifestyle of worship, whether on the decks in a club or 9 to 5 in an office.
A music producer since the late nineties, Mistadool fell in love with drum and bass from the very first breaks. While working on all kinds of productions ranging from rock to hip-hop and nu-soul, he soon started working on his own tracks, fashioning a sound of his own. His eclectic musical background made him want to explore drum and bass in unusual ways.
