Chris' Take:

Grime Silk & Thunder is the latest piece of work from legendary vocalist, Ultra Naté. There are plenty of gems and soon to be classics here. From the soulful and groovy, to the retro, to the electro house remake of the 80's classic "Automatic", I was very impressed. There's nothing here that you will want to hit the skip button on. This is, musically, a very fun album.

Digging a little deeper and focusing on the lyrics, she sings about a few topics including falling in love, taking some time out for yourself to get away from your problems, and sex, which seems to be a recurring theme. "Freak On" appears to be a song about dancing, but then you realize that she uses dancing to be synonymous with having sex. "Let's dance, let's get our freak on tonight, let's do what grown people like..." In "Feel Love", she dabbles in some new age type of thinking with "Let the rhythm of the earth be your god... everyone of us can reach nirvana". The high point for me was "Falling" where she sings about falling in love with someone and how it feels like heaven and God must be smiling to see them together.

From a spiritual standpoint, it is hard for me to recommend Grime, Silk & Thunder. While musically, it hits the mark every time and her vocals are perfect, the lyrics push me off from really being able to enjoy the entire project. If you are looking for something that is "Christ-friendly", I'd say you should probably pass on this. If you are looking for something to enjoy in the car or just hanging out, sure this would be fine. It all comes down to your own discretion and spiritual discernment.
