Brian's Take:

Major Pax hits us with the 6-track I Want A New Life EP. This was, more than most releases, an interesting one. Through genre variety and a very personal sound, Major Pax delivers several great tracks. The first four tunes are quick and to the point, each serving their own entertaining purpose. The last two, on the other hand, were more drawn out, allowing for more of a musically significant experience.

While songs like "Calling" are your average run around the park. The title track, "I Want A New Life", is a genuinely new trip, combining the best of dark trance with the goofy buoyancy of a lot of up-and-coming tech house. Additionally, "Motion" is another dark trance tune but with a bit of a twist, like listening to a Thrillseekers song from the other side of the fence.

Although a lot of the production work was incredibly layered and intricate, a couple of the songs lacked a certain overall professionalism, namely songs like "Against the Dark" and "Calling". When parts of a song sound like they came straight out of a production program's sample library (whether they actually did or not), the listening experience simply isn't the same. Despite the release having its ups and downs, all six tracks prove Major Pax to possess a great deal of talent, and at the end, this is one quality release worth checking out.
