It’s official. Oneel, Fitzpatrick and I will be running the Dance Club at this year’s Cornerstone Music Festival in Bushnell, Il. For the most part, things will go exactly as they have in the past… but hopefully better.  John Herrin, the festival director, has been very open to some changes, as have we.

The Dance Club will run from Tuesday, June 26th until Friday, June 29th. The first night will be a dedicated BTU night. You’ll all get a chance to see Oneel and Fitzpatrick put the money where their mouth is and throw down a huge show on a shoestring budget. The following three nights will be your typical opening DJ/Live PA and headliner. We have not officially made the call yet, but we might cut back to just 2 acts a night. This will allow for longer sets and cut down on expenses, which are tight this year.

I mentioned that John was open to some changes so here’s what we are working on.

  • To allow time for people to get to the Barn from Main Stage after the last act, we will be able to go until 1:30 am with the stage.
  • The drainage problem will be addressed with more gravel this year. So… hopefully no more stepping over “mud” puddles to get to the barn.
  • They will also try to keep that area cleaner this year as well.
  • We have the opportunity to have a sign in the Food Court to direct people to the barn.
  • We also have permission to dress up the entrance a bit. I need to coordinate this with the Flickerings people as well though.
  • Promoting the barn from Main Stage may also be an option

All of these are still up for discussion right now, but the outcome looks favorable.

In addition to all of this, we are looking into the possibility of running a generator stage during the day. John said he could reserve us a nice location and Chris Human of the Underground might even provide the generator. For those of you who wanted a beach stage… that’s out of the question due to various safety issues.

All in all, this should be a banner year. We’re accepting demos now. The deadline will be sooner than ever before however. Right now it’s set to March 2nd, but we may have to move that up depending on when the line-up is due for the mailers. See the other sticky post from more information.

So… please keep us all in prayer as we are making plans. We’ll need it. Also, please be patient with us. We won’t have time to answer every question that you might have, but we’ll do the best we can. Hope to see you there this year.

In Christ,
Dave R
