Malex - Electronica
Saturday, 27 January 2007

Musicians are some of the most resourceful and persistent people in the world, often overcoming all kinds of odds just to beat the immense learning curve involved. Not to mention that the competition is fierce! You need to stand out somehow... you need to be different. Alex Markley is one such artist that started with no musical training and ended up running his own record label, Malex Media Network. Born in Columbus, OH in 1986, he has already received acclaim for his music, particularly his track "DJ Culture (6,600 Sunsets Mix)", which appeared on Sheltershed's Hx release (CDr, 2005).

Alex, producing under the alias Malex (which is trademarked), produces all manner of electronica from Drum 'n Bass to Trance. He really hates to feel limited and, consequently, strives to do something different in each new project.

One of his earliest ventures saw him and a team of other students creating a GameBoy Advance video game. He took on the task of learning how to use "ModPlug Tracker" and composed all the music and sound for the portable Nintendo game. His proficiency in computer programming, graphic art, and web technologies has given him an edge in the field of electronic music composition.

Alex sees himself as a composer first and a dance music producer second. His love for melodic content and harmony lures him into the world of soundtracks and music for film. He dreams of one day scoring for an orchestra, and frankly, there doesn't appear to be anything able to stop this artist from succeeding in doing just that.
