Brian's Take:

BT has struck gold once again. Taking a different route for this record, BT has temporarily shelved his energetic breaks and distinctive EDM persona. The mood of this album is that of ambience, reflection, and ease, while maintaining the ever-present technical intuition that goes hand-in-hand with any BT production. Style-wise it's chillout, it's ambient, it's downtempo, and most of all it's glitchy. Personally I would describe "This Binary Universe" as an infusion of the work of Ulrich Schnauss and Aphex Twin.

Defying the laws of conventional music writing, BT has successfully manipulated the sounds of chillout, classical, and even jazz. Each and every piece on this collection contains its own magic. Thinking about the album collectively, it's one big inspiration from start to finish. There are aspects of this album to motivate the chillout producer, the dance producer, the acoustic rock writer, on down to the dude who spends 8 hours a day in the studio twiddling knobs. Not only is the album brilliant from a musical perspective, but the production as a whole is clearly a heartfelt piece of work. The mood of this album sticks with you long after you're through listening to it. Additionally, no play of it is quite like the first. As a result, replay value isn't as high as it could be, but I can honestly say I look forward to listening again down the road.

In summation, this album speaks volumes, specifically attesting to the fact that robots have feelings too. Listen to it if you want to experience exactly what I mean by that. Well done, BT.
