And With a New Year, Our Baby Turns Ten!

It’s hard to believe, but in December of 2006, Tastyfresh will be ten years old. I don’t think that Jamey expected this place to last that long or even thought that far ahead when he started it. I know I didn’t even think about it when I took over a few years ago. Man, it’s been a few years now since I took over from Jamey hasn’t it. Time sure is flying. Anyway, if you have any ideas about how we should celebrate the first decade of Tastyfresh.com, let me know. We should do something though.

In other news, I am still working on the next version of the site. The big decision that was made recently was to move the site away from static HTML pages to a content management system. We will be moving to Joomla! which is a web-based CMS that will allow me to let more people edit the site directly. What that means is hopefully I won’t be the bottleneck that I am for much longer. A few of the new features will be finished music section with label, artist, and DJ profiles. There will be some criteria for being added as an artist or a DJ though. When I have more information on that, I’ll let you know. In addition, I will allow some established club and radio DJs post their charts on the site under the music section. One other new feature will be that reviews will become separated from the zine. This hopefully will mean that you see reviews more often than every two months.

Many of you have been following Coco’s Sho Ya Love series. That is coming to an end at least temporarily. She is finishing up her phD in Psychology this spring. Hopefully she’ll pick up where she left off as soon as she’s out. Pray for her. She’ll need it. I know I did my last semester and that was just a BFA.

Finally, congratulations to Spiritual Blessings on winning Next Dimension Music’s Shout Praises remix contest. You can learn more about them in NDM’s latest newsletter and on their website.

Until Next Time…
