Vitals:

Jeffery ZionDJ/Artist Name:  Jeffrey Zion
Location:  Indianapolis/NYC
Bio:  Coming from a Jewish/Spanish background my family who loved music and dancing, so I started going to clubs sometime in 1975 and after seeing some guy in a booth playing records I knew this is what I wanted to do. So in 1977 I learned how to spin records in local clubs like Riffs, Chaz, and Stepping Out in New York.  Putting a classified ad in Billboard Magazine in 1980, I was soon on a plane heading for Hong Kong to play at Asia's answer to Studio 54; The Manhattan Club.  Being a dj from New York,  I was welcomed with open arms and it wasn't long until I became part of the Hong Kong jet-set. The owners, Raymond Tong and Sylvio Wang were looking for a DJ from the states to raise the bar on nightlife in Hong Kong so the placing of my classified ad proved to be a fortuitous match. From there I went to Manila, The Philippines and continued my musical tour of Asia and helped spirit Manila's beginning dance scene.  In 1981, after 11 months of spinning records in Asia it was time for me to head on home.

I entered the Navy in 1982 and didn't return to spinning records until I ended my enlistment in 1986, playing at Hu Shangs, a club situated underneath a Chinese restaurant in Portland, Maine.  In 1989 I returned to NYC and worked on Wall Street and as an actor for several years.  Then in 2001 while on Maui, I decided to go back to djing under DJ Katana, paying homage to the martial arts. When I got saved some time later, I changed my secular dj name to Jeffrey Zion, and started playing goa trance honoring my messianic roots.

Since then I have played at events in Breckenridge - Colorado, Tempe - Arizona, New York City, Columbus- Ohio, Kansas City-Missouri, Foley-Alabama, Mt Shasta-California, got inducted into the Disco DJ Hall of Fame and this year I will be playing at Cornerstone for Gospel for Asia / OneLifeRadio
