One of the more interesting aspects of Cornerstone is that other organizations are welcome to apply to have what is known as a generator stage. These stages are independent of the main festival, but are still on the Cornerstone Festival grounds and have been “approved” by the festival itself. These stages do not receive the same promotion that the other “official” Cornerstone stages receive, so even festival attendees may not realize these stages exist.

This year we have a rare treat in the One Life Radio/Gospel for Asia Stage. It is a generator stage that will showcase additional DJs and live PAs. In addition, this stage will be used to raise awareness regarding the growing missions opportunities in Asia. To find out more about this new stage, we sat down with Andrew Turner, one of the stage’s coordinators.

TF: Tell us about One Life Radio? Who are you guys and what do you do?

AT: One of the founding members, Joshua Volz aka Mile 97 came up with the OneLife tag when we were kicking around ideas for a production crew in the Midwest around 2003, stemming from a conversation about the common threads in the spiritual beliefs identified in the world today. OneLife radio was born out of prayer to decide if it would be worth it to fund an internet radio station as a business that supports Gospel for Asia www.gfa.org: a missions organization based out of Texas. We hope to double or triple our investment in this music source in order to benefit Gospel for Asia more than had we only just donated the money straight to GFA. Thus far we have reached an audience of over 1300 listeners and hope to release an annual compilation of artists on MP3 and CD format from producers all over the world to raise money for the much needed Tsunami relief effort, child and native missionary sponsorship programs, and the printing presses to distribute Bibles across this largely unreached group of people. OneLifeRadio.com features mixsets by dozens of Christian dj’s and artists in rotation 24/7, as well as weekly live shows by dj404, DJ Ellipse, Brian B & the Cyberwisdom crew, Responsible T, and also concerts and shows recorded live on location in the Midwest. OneLifeRadio.com will showcase on-demand mixsets, video footage, interviews, and an mp3 record shop. Debuting at Cornerstone 2005, www.OneLifeRadio.com now offers the services of “NOT OF THIS WORLD Crew”, our mobile sound system and multitrack video and audio recording studio. OneLifeRadio hopes to dispatch a dedicated crew of Christian DJs to your venues across the U.S., representing the finest talent our scene has to offer. Our mobile sound system and studio is available for hire in the Midwest U.S. Our thesis: One Love, One Life, One God.

TF: What is Gospel for Asia?

AT: Gospel for Asia is a 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit Missions organization that has provided over 9 million pieces of Gospel literature to the third world. “Revolution in World Missions”– a wonderful book available for free by K.P. Yohannan , GFA’s founder from Gospel for Asia, describes how this multi-million dollar charity has won thousands of souls for the Kingdom of God by training Bible College students in Asia (native missionaries) and building Believers Churches in the “10/40 Window” – an area of the world that is mostly un-reached with the Gospel Message – lying ten degrees north latitude and forty degrees longitude from Africa to China. GFA’s new “Bridge of Hope” program allows you to sponsor a child for only 28 dollars a month, giving you the opportunity to see a young child in Asia grow in the Christian faith from a background of poverty, hunger, and disease into a new life of education, proper food and clothing, and caring volunteers who foster these young children. The Bible calls us to care for the orphan and the widow, and the recent Tsunami disaster has left hundreds of thousands of little children without parents, without a home, and without hope. Gospel for Asia provides this hope. Sponsor a native missionary today for only $30 dollars a month, a small fraction of your pay, which will be a very significant donation when on Judgement Day we all will be surrounded with the brothers and sisters in Asia whom our native missionaries helped get into Heaven with us.

TF: How long has One Life been around?

We started on New Year’s Eve 2004-05 at a Gospel for Asia “Bridge of Hope” benefit concert, and will use this year as testing grounds for the need for a music ministry such as this. We hope to be broadcasting the Message of Love for many years.

TF: What can a club goer expect to find at the One Life Radio/Gospel for Asia Stage?

AT: For one, expect to find some good friends. We look forward to great fellowship, dancing, networking, and even a little drum circle worship at this year’s event. Also, don’t be surprised if you find yourself behind a free hamburger or hot dog, a cold soda, and a free copy of “Revolution in World Missions” by K.P. Yohannan (if you haven’t already read it). The native club goer will find him or herself in their own natural habitat of good vibes, lots of sunshine, and over four thousand watts of raw bass .

TF: Each day has it’s own theme, what are the themes and why these themes?

AT: Tuesday is TastyFresh day – a chance to meet up with those before everything gets too wild, Wednesday is Cornerstone Pre-Fest for those with early access tickets and booths while they are setting up and getting ready to party, Thursday is God’s House because the Gospel House sound will be raging non-stop for six hours straight, Friday is “Holy Mountain of Smoke and Fire” – this name came from a flyer from Decision Magazine about an airport hanger in Africa for a Church Service a few years back – something like a few hundred thousand attended and worshipped God and praised Him for several days ( we hope to recreate that on a slightly smaller scale ), Saturday’s event is titled “Make a Joyful Noise!” because that is what God calls us to do, and Christian music is the way to make it happen, Sunday is “Temple in the Sky: A Worship Event” – as the name suggests we hope to come before the Lord in humility and fear while focusing on His Love and Promise to reign for eternity among us, as K.P. Yohannan once said, “we will come before you , and dance forever” – truly an inspiring idea.

TF: How did One Life Radio come to running a dance stage this year at Cornerstone?

AT: The answer is simple – on a shoestring!

TF: There were certain DJs that you KNEW you wanted to book right off the bat. Who were they and why them?

AT: I knew dj404 would come and I knew he would straight up rock the top off this place. We also wanted Pat D, Jeffrey Zion, DJ Ellipse, and the whole TastyFresh line-up honestly. We were blessed with an outpouring of responses and encouraging offers to volunteer as Jeffrey Zion did. We selected the dj’s on our line-up because we know that they will represent Christ properly and enthusiastically – with the ultimate goal of Salvation of Souls set to the rhythm of His Love.

TF: Were there any DJs you wanted to book, but simply could not?

AT: Yes, we would very much have liked to fly in Oyvind Borgso from Norway’s hottest radio station www.p7.no, an excellent jam-band-mission-trip powerhouse. We hope to one day fly him in as he wants to visit the International House of Prayer, and do a U.S. tour with his fantastic show and heart for the lost world.

TF: In the end, what do you hope to accomplish with this stage?

AT: I pray that every child and adult whose picture appears on the cards we received from GFA to present to the Cornerstone attendees for sponsorship will find a home on the walls of those who decide to sponsor them for only a dollar a day. A dollar a day is nothing to us in the U.S., but it is equivalent to a day’s wages in Asia. I hope that this stage will direct the eyes of our community to the people with no hope, and will inspire you all to get involved in missions from the comfort of your own home, - there is no need to drop everything and fly off to a foreign place to do mission work- your very job can be used for missions. Even if you make minimum wage, it is only twenty minutes of work that can change the life of an individual by giving them an opportunity to hear the Gospel from a native missionary in Asia!
