Cornerstone 2006: My Things Have Changed
Written by David Richardson
Friday, 15 September 2006

It’s been four years since I had last been and a lot has changed. For the second year now, an organization other than one of the two traditional dance music labels ran the Dance Club… or Dance Barn as the club’s patrons more accurately call it. To me, what this signifies is that the event has moved from the control of the labels to the control of the fans.

After partner Daniel Somboonsiri left the group in 1997, Scroggins continued POP as a solo live act, and has the distinction of being one of the few producers in the “Christian scene” to put out vinyl (1998’s Activ8 EP) at a time when the thought of pressing wax was a pipe dream for many. Scroggins gained indie cred with his releases on Patchpoint Muzik in 2002 and dropped a remix or two for artists including Sheltershed and Redsavior. Prophecy of PANIC is also a longtime Cornerstone electronic music mainstay, performing in 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2002. This year was to be a homecoming of sorts for Scroggins, a ten-year anniversary.

When we, the forum members of Tastyfresh, think about Cornerstone, chances are we are thinking of the DJ's and dancing. However, when one actually goes to Cornerstone, you quickly see that we are the minority. Cornerstone attendees go for various reasons from the bands, to friends, to experience God, and others just to get away from life. But out of all the reasons people go, seeing DJ's spin is not on their minds a lot of the times. Well this year, dance music was represented in three venues and one impromptu card table near the footbridge.

Any event in which any of us are involved in is successful because of the effort put in by everyone. So many people came together to help make Cstone successful. The willingness of each person to be flexible, available, and to do whatever is needed is a HUGE component to a successful event.

Written by Andy "Responsible" T

It has been two days since we arrived back from Cornerstone Festival and let me tell ya, it has taken some time to adjust back to "non-Cornerstone" life and to try to put everything in perspective.  Looking back, I must say that I believe that Cornerstone 2005 was the most fulfilling and personally productive week of my life thus far; most importantly, the people that I was blessed to meet up with and those who I met for the first time made a huge impact in my spiritual life.

Well Cornerstone 05 has come and gone. My eyes are still tired. I have come to find that I am getting too old to only get 2 hours of sleep a night. I have been asked to write a wrap up of the Cornerstone 05 Dance Club from the organizer point of view. This wrap up will include general thoughts, highlights, lowlights, and what the future holds.

Cornerstone Dance Tent/Barn: Under New Management
Written by David Richardson
Sunday, 15 May 2005

In the past, both N*Soul Records and MYX Records have run the Dance Club. This year, the club is under new management by a group of veterans from Cincinnati, Ohio. For the past three years the crew of The Underground have hosted monthly club events and two years ago they provided the lights for the Dance Barn. We recently had a chance to sit down with both Chris Human and Cindy Tucker to talk about both the Underground and the changes at the Dance Barn and it looks like the changes being made will be worth it.

In addition, this stage will be used to raise awareness regarding the growing missions opportunities in Asia. To find out more about this new stage, we sat down with Andrew Turner, one of the stage’s coordinators.

Shelby Callaway always had a passion for music, from making beats and theme songs as a kid to discovering Propellerheads Rebirth in high school and producing his first independent album. Over the following 2 years Shelby picked up a pair of CDJ-100's and a DJM-300 mixer and practiced as much as humanly possible. He spun a few school dances with the high school production company and became addicted to mixing.
