Many of us are excited for this year’s get together at Cornerstone. I wish that it was all going down right now but I am glad to have a little more time to take care of the details left to be done. This year I will be running a sound system during the day to help promote the Dance Club at night.

Tastyfresh.com and BTU Live are proud to announce the Cornerstone 2007 Dance Club lineup. Building on the success of the Underground’s management and direction during the 2005 and 2006 years, there really was only one way to improve the lineup for this year and that was to grab not only some fan favorites, but to bring in some of the biggest names currently in the EDM scene. If you haven’t attended Cornerstone in a few years, you’ve really missed out, but if you have been and haven’t checked out the Dance Club, you won’t want to miss it this year.

When I first heard KRS-One declare, "We need to bring sampling back!" in his cover of We Will Rock You I thought, “Back?  When was it gone?  Wouldn’t I have noticed?”

I don’t know exactly what KRS-One meant by “sampling” in this case.  Even just in the context of music the word has a range of meanings from the very specific and technical (the binary encoding performed immediately after A-D conversion) to the sweepingly broad (playing a digital recording).  Without trying to tackle them all I am going to discuss several of sampling’s uses in production.

In this article I will show how I get ready to DJ with Ableton Live and also show one way to setup your DJ rig in Ableton.   The great thing about Ableton Live is just because this is how one person does it, you do not have to follow my setup exactly.  Ableton gives you the ability to setup your rig how ever you want.   We all think differently and Ableton frees us to mix the way we think rather than being stuck with 2 or 4 channels, a cross fader, and cue points.

This article is not an official article written by the police or the news, it is written from personal experience from someone who has seen more in this world than I would hope most others have. It is also written not just for this generation but for the next, the generation where kids bring weapons to school and murder each other on city streets. This is for you, kids, because I was one of you once, and I remember growing up in a confusing world and trying to keep my head screwed on straight. I would read the book of Proverbs because I found it pointed out a lot of wisdom and direction for a kid trying to grow up in a world by myself with no real authority at the time and terrible role models. I found God is faithful when no one else can be found or trusted. Even if He sometimes comes through for me at the very last minute, literally at one second to midnight.

Well, it’s that time again. Time for me to write an intro to the latest TF mag. There’s always so much to talk about and it’s hard to focus on what aspect of life here at Tasty needs to be told. This time however, the story is simple and 2-fold: Cornerstone and the Podcast.

I used to chuckle at a Calvin & Hobbes comic that my mom kept on our refrigerator when I was a child. It had a picture of Calvin making a grumpy face with a caption that read, “God put us on earth to accomplish a certain number of things. At this point I am so far behind I will never die.” But somewhere along the line, one of my parents had crossed off “number of” so it read; “God put us on earth to accomplish certain things…” It was a silly little comic, but I never really forgot the concept behind it. As I began to get to know and love God on a personal level, I always kind of wondered how much truth was behind that. Did God really put us on earth to accomplish specific things? Did He really give each person only a part of the puzzle?

It’s official. Oneel, Fitzpatrick and I will be running the Dance Club at this year’s Cornerstone Music Festival in Bushnell, Il. For the most part, things will go exactly as they have in the past… but hopefully better.  John Herrin, the festival director, has been very open to some changes, as have we.

Has it been two months already? Is it a new year… again? Issue #17 huh? That many? Wow. We have been doing this for a while now. I should be used to this cycle. For some odd reason, this issue has been harder coming than others. Partly, I think it’s Christmas. At least I want to blame Christmas for the rush I feel I am in this time around. That’s not the only issue though.
