SHO YA LOVE… Redsavior!!!
Tuesday, 15 November 2005

This episode of Sho’ Ya Love is about The Reluctant Legend himself.  I think he’s got the best stage name around.  Multi talented, intelligent, versatile, loves our humble craft, and masterfully runs our tight little ship of a home we lovingly call TastyFresh.  But how did he get his music thang going?

The Drop: Confidence and Empty Dance Floors
Tuesday, 15 November 2005

So you're set to spin at a club, maybe a wedding reception or a youth event. The anticipation creeps in as you methodically plan out the set you're gonna rock the crowd with. The needle drops on the vinyl. The song you pick is a sure floor packer. Problem is no one seems to be dancing. Hold on a minute. "What's going on," you think to yourself. "That song is a sure fire winner for the floor", your thoughts race.

Broken Lives, Broken Links and this Issue
Thursday, 15 September 2005

Two weeks ago, Hurricane Katrina SLAMMED the Gulf Coast. Over half a million people were without power in that region. Homes all across the coast were destroyed. It didn’t matter if you were a poor family barely trying to make it by or US Senators. The storm destroyed literally everything.

Christianity and the Dance Scene III:
Thursday, 15 September 2005

Any history of a Christian dance scene must include not only the producers of the music and the DJs that spin it, but also the variety of venues, the myriad of events, and the differing motivations that exist for throwing parties – outreach, worship, the desire to kick out the jams, whatever. Dance music events are a key element of the subculture and should not be treated lightly.

Getting It Signed: A Foundation for Shopping Tracks to Labels
Thursday, 15 September 2005

How do I get my tracks signed? That is probably one of the most asked questions EDM artists and producers have asked for years now. In fact, it’s pretty much been THE question anybody who wanted to make money at music has been asking since the first record was sold (if not earlier).

How To Build A Local Scene - Part One
Thursday, 15 September 2005

The building blocks of any scene are the people in it. The talent, events organizers, and anyone and everyone who gets involved to help out, show support, or show up at events. You can't have a scene without all the crucial elements - mainly people, talent, skills, equipment, and support - so building excitement and getting people involved is a major priority. What it comes down to is building community.

A Time to Worship and Re:fresh
Thursday, 15 September 2005

So, what happened during the worship experience? Well, God showed up! In the beginning of the night I was a little concerned as some of the people who came expected a thumping dance event. Halfway through the event the noise video began and complete silence fell over the entire crowd. It was an incredible experience. Think about it, you are at a festival of about 28,000 people and it was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop in the dance barn. It was at that point I knew people were getting it.

People In A Box…SHO YA LOVE!!!
Thursday, 15 September 2005

Having followed dance music from its birth in the early 90’s after having grown up on disco and the synth-driven music of the 80’s, I came to love dance/club music. The energy and melody of the music pushed my buttons, and the style has its own built in industry and community, so that is compelling as well.

The Drop: Some of the basics for DJ lead Worship
Thursday, 15 September 2005

This is the third time I have written this issue’s Drop. Every time I write it, I read it over and decide that I should go somewhere a little different. My Drop for you this month is some ideas on choosing records that can be used for DJ led worship as well as actually leading worship.

Mountaintops and Valleys
Friday, 15 July 2005

Well, here is yet another issue of the Tastyfresh.com Ezine. Again, it is packed with a wealth of information, opinions, and well… useless information to keep you happy for two months. In the last issue, we focused on the annual event known as Cornerstone. We interviewed the performers, the promoters and even got feedback on how to make a better demo for next year’s event. Cornerstone ended July 3rd without a hitch. Everyone is back home now and many if not all of those who attended are experiencing a spiritual high.

Prophecy of PANIC: Pride and Prejudice at Cornerstone 2005
Friday, 15 July 2005

After partner Daniel Somboonsiri left the group in 1997, Scroggins continued POP as a solo live act, and has the distinction of being one of the few producers in the “Christian scene” to put out vinyl (1998’s Activ8 EP) at a time when the thought of pressing wax was a pipe dream for many. Scroggins gained indie cred with his releases on Patchpoint Muzik in 2002 and dropped a remix or two for artists including Sheltershed and Redsavior. Prophecy of PANIC is also a longtime Cornerstone electronic music mainstay, performing in 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2002. This year was to be a homecoming of sorts for Scroggins, a ten-year anniversary.
