I bring challenge & change, encouragement & energy

Hey everyone, I know we still have like 6 months to go but I wanted to start this thread now because...we have A LOT of work to do before May 07. For those of you who don't know Detroit's Movement Festival / DEMF has been North America's largest (once free) EDM festival. I've had the honor of attending / serving EVERY YEAR since its birth in 2000. Last year, my company Tranceformed Studios L.L.C. had a vendor booth where we sold t-shirts, my mixes, and took multimedia orders. You might have seen us...we were the ONLY vendor that sold glow sticks during the whole festival...our booth was 2nd in on the left as soon as you walked into the main gate...anyway... I'm ashamed to say that I haven't been involved with TastyFresh very long but I don't seem to remember a booth there for them...(correct me if I'm wrong) Actually, to be honest I had NO IDEA there was a Christian EDM scene at all. I've been saved for the past 20 years or so and I've been into EDM since the very beginning. During the mid - late 90's I was involved in throwing many a party (rave) that were less then Christian...I remember every Fri, Sat, and Sun we'd load up some warehouse in the "D" with 1000 screaming, dancing, crazy ravers and all I kept thinking was...why can't we do this in Church, for the Lord, without all the DRUGS. I admit I once had problem with recreational pharmaceuticals (but was delivered from that by his GRACE) and now ALL I want to do is BLOW UP THE CHRISTIAN EDM SCENE. Let's unite and make this scene something that EDM listeners WORLD-WIDE not only respect, but enjoy to the point that we can witness to their lives because of it....maybe I'm just a dreamer but I have every intention of CHANGING the WORLD for Him. And Movement 2007 is our chance to be seen. I already have a double-wide booth reserved right in the center of "Vendor Alley" at next years festival and I was thinking to myself...WHY STOP THERE??? Lets get 5 booths or 10...lets plaster Christian EDM logos everywhere (& TastyFresh of course) let's make this festival different then all the ones before. From spending so much time in the city (Detroit) over the last 10-15 years I've made some good friends & business connections and because of this I'm able to get a good deal on booth space. PLEASE everyone STRONLY consider this. This is OUR TIME TO SHINE. Let’s let the world know we are here to stay and we are here to bring CHANGE. angel

GOD BLESS THE RAVERS!

Rodimus -

Hey man, you rock.   I very much appreciate your passion and have respect for your excitement.

But please realize that we have been uniting and we have been infiltrating the scene.   I can honestly say that there are strong christians in every genre and corner of the entire EDM scene.  You can find us doing everything from street preaching to worship sets to witnessing to meeting with secular industry heads to producing quality music that the world takes notice of.   Remember TastyFresh is just a small sampling of the whole Christian representation in the scene.  You yourself said you have been saved for quite awhile and you just found out about us.

So, yes, I agree there are some things that we can do.  Maybe a booth is in order or maybe we should make ourselves a little more known.  But even though we seem slightly invisible we are making a big impact on the entire EDM scene.

So, thanks for your passion.  Thanks for your efforts to wake us up.   But please join the efforts already in progress. Wink

Keep in mind too that DEMF is on it's way out. Each year since they kicked Carol Marvin (Director of Clover Fest and FOUNDER of DEMF) out for being a Christian, the attendence has been dropping like a rock.

Just look at the line-up of Clover and you'll KNOW how much influence we truly have.

i agree, it is possible that DEMF (movement) could be on its way out. If so...then we move to WEMF! I'm very glad to hear that you guys have been busy inflitrating! But I feel that we need to take a stronger approach. I want to dive head first into the "secular" scene and blow it apart. I think this can be done for sure...especially with the Lord's help.

Thanks for your support guys...we should talk more on this in the months to come. Cool

hemstock & jennings and MIKE are christians?  huh..didn't know that.

well, i went to movement this last year. it was fun!  dunno about doing a booth, because i dont' know what the intent of the booth is and also how effective it would be.

the real thing to do is get on one of the stages...

Wow! ...did not know that Hemstock & Jennigns & M.I.K.E. would be there. I will come for sure but I'm not sure about a booth. I lost over $2500.00 in 3 days at Clover this year and at DEMF I made $1500.00 in 3 days so I kinda have to look at this from both a ministry and business point of view...

yeah... well... Clover had some REAL promotional issues this year for various reasons mainly stemming from city council issues from what I can tell. They couldn't secure the venue until 2 months prior to the event if that. Give it some time.

I am sorry for your loss though. That would be a HUGE blow to most of us here.

Becky (my gurl) was actually at those city council meetings. She lives in Traverse... I don't remember exactly what she said went on there but I don't think it was positive...I actually had 2 or 3 different people walk in off the streets and come up to my boothing to tell me that the whole city was boycoting the festival and that we weren't wanted there. I certianly hope DEMF finds a location closer the the rest of the population in Michigan and in a city that welcomes us rather then turns us away. I think Clover could get really big and I truely hope it does but there are going the have to be A LOT of changes before that can happen. I glad to hear about the killer line-up I'm going to get a hold of Telo and find out whatever details are available...
