A few weeks ago, I ran across a program called Snackr thanks to a link to www.scrnshots.com, which Joel posted some weeks ago (thanks Joel). So, Snakr is an RSS feed reader. You run it on your desktop as a scroll bar. Since I have 2 monitors, it's not annoying to me or sucking up my attention. I just look every now and then and click. I have like I dunno 15 RSS feeds in it so far.

The next thing that changed my surfing is a site similar to digg that is focused on design stuff called www.designfloat.com. This came about because a fellow designer and I were just chatting about how there needed to be a digg for designers that was "moderated so only design stuff made the feeds. Well... yesterday I found www.designfloat.com and I added about 4 or so category feeds from it into Snakr.

So... right now, I'm learning a BUNCH that I had no clue about and some of it is just annoying the crap out of me. Among them:

Impact is a common web font now. I happen to like Impact and it's a great font for headlines and call outs. Finding this was a frustrating Godsend. Now... I just need a place to use it Tongue

Another thing I found is www.960.gs. Ever want to easily make a grid system for a 960px wide site? This is it. It's dead simple and I'm hating myself for not thinking of this sooner. Yeah... it's got some quirks to it, but it's stable, slick, and awesome. Wow. My head hurts.

Oh...then there was the random finding of some really cool and free web icons that would work for some of the applications we're building at work.

Not to mention a post about what you should get for a premium wordpress themes vs. free ones.

Oh... and then there was the motherload site called www.skout.co.za. It's kinda like a www.pricewatch.com for design resources.

Yeah... So I'm getting a bit more back into design right now.

DJ Shagz (used to be on here... good friend of mine) posted designfloat on Facebook a couple of weeks back. The name was in my mind, but I haven't checked it out. (I'm a project manager, not a designer.)

Cool stuff. Finding new tools is always so great.

Great post!

960.gs is really really cool, and the photoshop fix is really good too.
