This isn't exactly a crisis or anything, but right now I'm really deliberating on whether or not to buy some producing equipment. I guess I'm just not sure if God wants me to prioritize producing like I have in the past (or continue at all as hard as it is to say), and if not then it doesn't make sense to double my investment in equipment. I need God's direction in all of this before I blow thousands of dollars on something that might be distracting me from better things that he has for me.

I really suck with money too, so I'm asking that you pray for me to be wise with money and listen to God.

Thanks,
Stephen

Question #1: Can you pay cash for the gear? If no. Don't buy it.

As far as the $500 desk goes... you don't NEED that. Get a decent computer desk from Office Depot for $150 and then build a keyboard stand out of pvc pipe. That's what I did.

Look into a FastTrack Pro for the sound card and you'll save $100. It has just about the same inputs and the USB 2.0 interface is faster than a firewire a one.

Also, look into some active monitors and you MIGHT get the cost below $700. Better yet, go to a store and LISTEN to all of their monitors. Go early on a week day so there's no crowd. Take in your own music. Spend an hour or two trying out all of the systems within your price range.

I'm pretty much set on the equipment already except for the desk. Justin Moreh strongly recommended this setup to me, so I don't think I'm going to budge as far as the amp and monitors go. God has blessed me with money, so that won't be an issue ...except if he wants it to go somewhere else.

The Tannoy Reveal 6 passive monitors are what Justin uses in his main setup.

Well... speakers are a funny thing. I'm not saying Justin is wrong, but I am saying check them out anyway before you buy.

I agree definately check them out with something you know really well because I have the original reveal actives and the mixes dont translate as well as I'd expect so have to work lots harder

I found a nicer $200 desk from Guitar Center.
Anyways, to be completely honest I don't have all of the money now, but I am making enough this summer that it will be short work to pay it off. However, I won't have as much left over afterwards as I originally thought.
