But seriously, the LAST thing I need is for this truck to have the transmission die or anything else to get worse. It would not be "luckily" for me at all. It would be a catastrophe and a disaster. The worst possible situation at all is what you described.
lol Sorry I didn't mean to sound like a pessimist (in fact im usually a stubborn optimist). I just wanted to show that despite that my car was a loss, my hesitation saved me some $$. It's my hope that despite the unfortunate trials your experiencing with your truck there's always room to recognize God's blessings somewhere. James 1:2-19

referring to what? Housing costs? If so, housing is not too expensive. as with any city, it depends on where you are. I, unfortunately, do not live near topeka. I commute 40 miles one way everyday to work. That's 80 miles a day. Plan A was to move to Topeka asap, but things keep hindering that from happening. If I did live in Topeka, I would ride a bike everyday.
Here in Atlanta, I couldn't get a house half the size of what I have now if I lived just 10 mi closer to the city.
And yeah... Marta sucks. It will take me 30-45 min to drive to a marta station. I'd wait 15 min on the train. Have to stand. Have no AIR circulation at all. Then ride for another 15-30 min until I get to my stop. So... that's 60 min to 90 min one way. I can drive downtown within 45-70 min on just about any day.

Well I took it to a different shop (one that our friends trust and take their vehicles to). This situation is NOT improving. The head is cracked, but even worse they are suggesting I have the engine replaced. Things got real bad real quick for my truck. To replace the engine will be $2400 with a used engine with 41,000 miles. I am talking with my church to see if they can help. Things look sorta OK for them to help, but I am just really concerned about why this has happened.
We are out two vehicles, borrowing her mom's, and running out of patience quick.

Are you able to shell out for a new one? Like a used compact? Surely there's some Ford Focuses or Honda Civics kicking around.

that is what I was thinking too, if he has to go with a new engine.
what's wrong with rest of the engine? should be able to replace the cracked head and whatever else, unless the block has a crack or has over 200K miles on it.
We have some car troubles as well, mine needs a new coil or something in the fuel system, dad's gonna have to put the new radiator in this weekend and I've been driving the truck after putting a new power steering pump in it. Just a month for breaks isn't it.

I have considered trading it in for something else, only problem is I still owe a lot on this truck. It has over 150,000 miles on it and I put at least 80 miles a day on it. That's why they suggested going with a used engine replacement.
Crystal is going car shopping today to replace her dead Saturn. I hope she picks something today. She has been looking for over a month.

PRAISE GOD! Crystal bought a car today. This will help out so much! After a month of looking, she decided on a
2008 Kia Spectra
. I don't know much about the details, but this is the first car we have owned that is brand spanking new. Not used, New. I am so happy.

Hey man, sorry to hear about all your vehicular troubles. I royally dislike having to use my moms car when mine goes down. Such a strain, with having to get up at the crack of dawn to take my mom to work then going home back to bed then going to work and my mom having to find a way back since we work opposite shifts. Hear you on the commuting thing, mines only 30 and it's no fun at times, especially in the winter. Anyways, praying that the situation gets resolved. Hope to see you at cornerstone if it works out.
God Bless
Hey congrats on the new car! (just got the warning about the new post when I submitted this one) New cars are indeed awesome. Praising God with you!

After much prayer, thinking, and advice from pretty much everybody around me, I decided to put the truck out to pasture. I traded it in today for a 2008 Kia Rio SX...metallic orange, red and white sport interior, silver dash. Very nice for what it costs, which isn't much. It gets great gas mileage and it's a very comfortable, smooth ride. The stereo is boomin and it goes nice with my XM Radio.
Here's a picture of it...well a stock pic. I will get one with me in it tomorrow when I take it for a long drive!
PS, I forgot. They gave me $4500 for my truck!

That's awesome dude. Praise God!
And hopefully you'll find your expenses going down, with two new small vehicles, the mileage should be vastly improved.
