Really put me in my place.

We had a really cool thing with Fusion for a while and then the kids lost interest and the venue needed to bring something more profitable in so we stopped doing shows.

I have a nice slick looking smaller venue (about 150 standing) at my disposal with a full lighting, sound, and video system.  The overhead is really really cheap.

Lets make something happen in Jacksonville again

How can I make a DJ led worship night happen down here?

Joel Khori lives here in Jacksonville and really wants to do a techno worship night.  I've seen him do his thing live and it is amazing.  http://www.arcanummusic.com/

How does this work?

One opener DJ (30-45mins)
Then DJ led worship (30-45 mins)
Then closing DJ (30-45mins)
Then live acoustic worship?

The venue has a "cafe" maybe we can have a chilled out DJ or some live acoustic stuff.

Seriously folks, I have  a venue with just about everything we need to put on the show.  The DJ would need to provide decks and such.  I work at a church and support my wife and son, I don't have much money to put into this.  I maybe able to get whoever DJ's gas money and some food.  This event will probably be produced independent of any other ministry.

I want to do a trial run and see the publics response - maybe this can be a consistent thing???

Comments?  Words of encouragement/discouragement?  Anyone want to come?

I helped make fusion happen for a long time, I don't want all that experience to go to waste.

I haven't talked to Bill or Robbie as of yet.

Bill has a family and super committed, I don't know if I want to burden him with this project.  Robbie will probably be on board to help out.  I have to see who else from the old crew will come out of the woodwork - I haven't kept in contact with the other DJ's.  Honestly it will probably be me doing most of the pre-work.

As far as the venue goes, this is not Murray Hill, this place is about a quarter of the size.  Its built into a 2 story office complex.  The room isn't huge, bit it is nice and has just about everything we need with minimal setup.  The room has a video projector and 2 nice rear projection TV's. I really want someone to do some VJing if possible.  Lighting is a bunch of LED's and 10 moving lights.  The room officially was built as a corporate meeting space, unofficially the owner wants to do as many Christian events in there as possible.  He will cut me an amazing deal because I maintain his lighting system.

The reason I do not want to do an event at MHT is because we need at least 100 kids to show up for the venue to make its bills and pay its staff..... We can get this room for less than $200, and I am the staff..... We would have to provide some type of security and a door crew.  The smaller room puts a little less pressure for me to try to pack the house.  During my time with Fusion our largest show was about 350 in a venue designed for 660.  This room if 60 kids show up, the room still looks cool and we still make our overhead.

So yeah, its been like four months since I first posted this I am a jerkface....

I have done nothing.... For what its worth I seriously am a busy guy.....

>I have a wife
>A son that crawls around and puts random objects on the floor in his mouth
>full time job as the lighting director/youth tech guy at church
>I run a small lighting company that is experiencing its best year ever
>myspace

I  still want to do something - I can organize the event and make the venue/production happen.....

I have no earthly idea of who to market this to or how to get people in the door...

I am also the lighting guy for this thing that happens monthly in Jax called youthquake live.  Its like "aquire the fire" on a 1000 kid scale, I know I can advertise on stage there, possibly do a video promo or something......
