i didnt write these lyrics.... i dunno about them :S what do you guys think the message behind them is?
It's a lovely positive message about how we waste our time on the unimportant stuff in life that may or may not be destructive to us. It's a reminder that we all have better things to be doing.
That's what I get from it. It's more of a warning about wasting our lives rather than a call to waste our lives.
Thing is, in art, everything is subjective. This isn't because the artist intended it to be. Normally, it's because people who are trying to interpret the art simply do so without consulting the art's creator. In other words, they try to read the artist's mind when they don't really know the first thing about the artist's personality, personal struggles, belief systems and so on.
This is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine. I have no doubt that my interpretation may not the correct one. I don't know A&B so I can't say I know for sure. I do know Shiloh, or at least Justin, fairly well so I thought the meaning behind their "Bleed" cd title was extremely clear and when I asked Justin about it, he said I got it right.
Knowing the artist though is the key to understanding his/her work. If you don't know, don't interpret something as fact.
