heh... neither. I haven't seen a controller yet that really does what I expect one to do. Xponent is tied to an app I don't want to use. VCI is flexible, but doesn't have audio. BCD's look cheap. Same with Hercules.

Not really sure which way to go.

Its the scratching im interested in and both seem capable.

Hercules was just awkward didnt have any feel to it!

Cdj400 look interesting as they will have midi capabilities!

yeah... I think I might be waiting for pioneer's solution to the issue. Wink Denon might have one too. Vastek & Numark jumping into this arena REALLY changes things. The industry finally understands that mp3 djing is the future and they don't want to be left behind.

The very fact that ppl have had to mod their gear like that shows me that it's not time to buy.

I have the VCI-100, I got it specifically for the touch sensitive jog wheels... the faders are nice and smooth and have some resistance to them to make gradual changes very nicely... the knobs also give some resistance...  it's a really awesome piece of gear, it's very professional quality...  plus whenever I take it somewhere people see it and just go "WOW!!!"  it's got the wow factor down! :-)  I use it coupled with my trigger finger so I don't need to do the "arcade button mod" and the two fit really nicely in my bag together... and they're both silver...  Tongue

If the VCI had audio, I'd be sold on it.

I already had Traktor so I'm rockin now Traktor 3.3 w/ my VCI-100 and sometimes the trigger finger... my last gig I didn't even bring the trigger finger because I'm trying to learn how to use the VCI-100 to the best of it's abilities first and then adding the trigger finger in later so I can go 4 decks!!

Yeah I had gotten the Audio 8 DJ for the crossgrade special price w/ Traktor Scratch so I was pretty much set... the sound quality of the audio 8 DJ is so nice!!  The difference between that and my echo indigo DJ was like night and day

Here's some info on the CDJ400.

At roughly $1,000 each, you are better off with a laptop and a controller. The other advantage of the laptop is that you get frequent software updates.

The interesting thing about it (if I'm reading things right) is that you can use it with Scratch Live w/o a data disc. Still, that's $1,000 each for something a $600 controller and the laptop you would already have to own anyway.

The 400 is the wrong way to go.

its because i want cd deck anyway.

I already have controllers and laptop, just not one with platters

but this is a controller and a cd deck im yet to see a controller on the market with the kind of feel the cdj400 gives. was impressed with it at the bpm show!

would get a pair if i could afford them..
