I don't want my iTunes folder to be on my computer's hard drive because it is too small.

Should I select the external hard drive as my iTunes folder?

Is there a way to keep my iTunes folder on the computer but have a link to the external hard drive as well? I want to have some of it on my computer's hard drive but most of it on the external.

Will selecting, "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" cause all the folders in my external hard drive to be rearranged?

Should I have the file system of my music folders set up in a particular way?

I'm so new to apple stuff. Thanks for any help you can give.

Go to prefrences, and select advanced. Under general tab it will let you select the location which can be external. Anything you import from a CD or buy via iTunes store will go to that folder.

If you have another folder on your main drive, just open them with iTunes and it will link to them.

My solution for iTunes:

Sort the whole thing into the trash bin.

I got a question.... it's an odd one..

I have an ipod 60 gig w/ video, and use ITunes to keep my stuff together on there... now, everytime I plug it in the computer to charge the dumb thing it goes through and deletes ALL of the stuff on it, and then goes through and ads *SOME* of it back, but not all of it... what's the freaking problem? (it's so infuriating I charge it on someone else's puter)

yes, it will organize them all by Artist and if you have multiple songs and/or albums, then they'll be sorted by that within the Artist folder.  Since i have all my dance related music sorted by Genre and rest by Artist, let iTunes do it will double the amount of folders, so I always choose no.  If you want to browse by artist, then go ahead.

I would do everything in one folder or partition.  More easier unless you have some already on the pc drive and don't want to move them.  But once you set the preferences, it will all go to the new folder.

I still can't figure out why people hate iTunes, simpler than WMP and better looking than Winamp.  What ya'll guys use?
