Two people drift in a lifeboat. One says, "I see an island. Our best chance is to go ashore, build a shelter, and await rescue." The others says, "No, we must go farther out to sea and hope to find the shipping lanes." Unable to agree, the two fight, the lifeboat capsizes, and they drown.

you're missing my point.  let me give you an example:

Nope. Not missing it. That's the way the rules are set up and it's like that on purpose. You have the same opportunity to say something that leaves the door open. That's the way the "game" is played.

so my point is..there is a certain bent to this site as noah says. there's a certain bent to bluelikejazz, too.  not saying it's wrong. im' just backing up part of what noah says.

I always knew this. So... what are we arguing about???

you already know i think things were better (overall) when every kind of topic was allowed. sure things got heated some times, but people also felt more open to express their opinions.

and that's my opinion Tongue

Yup, that's yours and I have empirical evidence that when we did this, we got less done and in fact did more harm to this community and the body of Christ as a whole. Remember, those debates from time to time would also end up published in the ministry of sound. Loads of fun. Tongue

re: noahs first post.

i remember making a couple posts like this but in the other (conservative) direction. basically they never work. just take the good with the bad and appreciate the community for what it is, a community which is not always of like minded people. we're just all fortunate to be God's children ... yeah

really?  you have empirical evidence that in the entire history of tastyfresh this is the healthiest it's ever been?
you've already misrepresented last years' cornerstone as "the busiest one ever", which is deomonstrably not true....
i'm not mad, just a little frustrated. you let SOME stuff go if you agree with it, dave, but if you don't you clamp down.

since the "game" is played a certain way, i'll play it that way and see what you think:

- If you think God told you something will come to pass and it doesn't,then it wasn't God, it was your imagination.

- If you're waiting for "god's will" in your life for the perfect job, perfect mate, perfect house, etc instead of getting out there and actually pursuing your perfect job, perfect mate, and perfect house, then you're not in god's will. God gave you a free will and an entire world to explore. Go explore it. ENJOY it. Don't sit around waiting for God to give you some sign...

- If a prophecy in your church doesn't come through, that person is NOT a prophet. according to the bible, prophets get it right 100% of the time (or they get stoned...)

-If you think you can get a private word from God from a single verse that it taken out of context where the original meaning is completely different from the way you're applying it, then you're not getting a word from God.  You're pretending to be your own pope, and you're getting wishful thinking, not a word from God.  God inspired the Bible to mean something in particular, not any particular thing you want it to mean.

not arguing..just making statements.  now ANYONE who argues with my statements of belief are breaking the rules.

after you all read those statements, you now know how i feel sometimes when i read the stuff i read...
