Time is of the essence.

Meanwhile back I purchased "This Binary Universe" by BT, and recently stumbled upon "Surrounded" by Tipper, got me thinking about albums in 5.1-7.1 surround sound producing by sound engineers in the electronic genre. Oh, and also a good source or resource for purchasing them. The only other album I can think of is "Foley Room" by Amon Tobin. Come to think of it, what about ones with digitally enhanced visuals as well, and I mean professionally in every sense of the word.

Two people drift in a lifeboat. One says, "I see an island. Our best chance is to go ashore, build a shelter, and await rescue." The others says, "No, we must go farther out to sea and hope to find the shipping lanes." Unable to agree, the two fight, the lifeboat capsizes, and they drown.

Acid may make it technically "easy' but it doesn't help with the enormous creative void
going from stereo to surround creates. You have to re-think your mixing strategies. This is all before you think about getting your mix correct to handle systems that use bass management & those that are full range. To use dolby or dts. To use the sub or not. To use the centre speaker or not. Surround is fun & very engaging but simple it isnt! Didnt you know we are all going to be having 10.1 in 5 years? (out of the frying pan into the fire) Huh

I remember seeing speedy j & richard devine both doing a liveset in 5.1... it was fun, though a bit chaotic from time to time (but hey, that's the music they make :-)..)
I liked the experience and I think you can do some really cool stuff with it live.

btw, wasn't the last ltj bukem mixalbum in 5.1 + visuals?
and what about the richie hawtin transitions dvd, that was the same deal..

I have to admit, I was kind of disappointed with this binary universe. I dunno, I guess ESCM will always be the ultimate for me,

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I’m found.
