Im choosing a dissertation topic for my degree right now, and have a pretty wide scope available to me - i can cover pretty much anything related to music. But i'm having trouble choosing a topic and am looking for inspiration!

So my question to all you guys is if you had to write a 9000 word study on anything music related what would you choose as a research topic/question?

The Evolution of Electronic Music,  beginning with 1920's Prohibition Era American Jazz.  If you wanted to go not quite so broad,  you could start in the 1960's with Musique Concrete.
