Spinning house and breaks since nineteninetey fo'!

« on: September 20, 2007, 12:09:36 PM »

Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to start a war.  Yes, I am brand new to tastyfresh.  But of all of the topics I have read I didn't notice any mention of records.  And yes I recognize djing with cds is a good thing.  I was just wondering if anyone else uses vinyl?

yep... i do...

i also use digital stuff via Traktor, but i will *always* use vinyl, at least as an interface... when i pay money to watch a performance from a DJ, i just don't want to watch a guy sit at a computer, or a laptop with a little MIDI controller... i mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone - i know it's my own little quirk that i still have such an attachment to turntables...

more and more i feel like a dj dinosaur these days - pretty dangerous...

ah, the age old debate, we've talked about it several times, might have to dig for it on the forums.

I use vinyl and Final Scratch.  Gonna upgrade to Traktor Scratch when I can and maybe one day get another cheaper pair of CDJs since after selling mine I could use a pair.

while I prefer vinyl, I sadly don't use as much as I would like simply because all the latest track are easily available online.

I still only use vinyl (yeah, I know, you can rail on me now).  I just can't bring myself to make the trasition.  Part of it is a $$$ thing.  But even if I had the $$$, I don't think I would do it.  I would rather spend the $$$ on a synthesizers or something like that.  I originally started spinning in '94 (yeah, I am old).  At this point, it was unheard of for a nightclub/rave to have a cd deck hooked up to the mixer.  It was more common for a 3rd turntable (which was fun) than a cd deck.

I definitely don't pay $12 for a 12-inch.  I generally but my vinyl directly from the label.  The internet is a wonderful thing!

I gave up the Black Crack a few years ago,  very briefly ventured into CDs,  and then headed full blast into Ableton.

i use vinyl whever i possibly can, i love love love vinyl, the only reason i use cd's or serato is because its so hard toget reccords where i live, but if i had a reccord store that carried tracks i wanted within a reasonable distance, id use serato and cd's wayyyy less
