Eh... not gonna argue about it. All I'll say is...
1) I still need a tactile feel. I need to interface with my tools.
2) Would you let a dentist build the airplane for your next flight?

i personally was just trying to share some joy over buying a new phone the works great for me compared to other PDA's i've used in the past. i also agree that it's a bit pricey but i was contemplating buying one and wasn't sure about the money and then i got a check in the mail the same day i was debating so my dad said it was probably a blessing so i took it as that and bought the phone. everything has it's quirks dave, and no product will ever please anyone but thanks for your opinion anyways.

For all the technology and communication possibilities out there today, we are more alone than ever. I'm better off for NOT having a cell phone or an mp3 player.

The problem with the Iphone is that is was built with planed obsleacence in mind. It's an EDGE capable device, while alot of the new PDAs and higher end wireless phones are the faster UMTS. The UMTS (300 - 700kbs) (keeping in mind not all ATT services areas are UMTS capable yet) is up to 3-4 times faster at data transfer and this is something that the safari browser needs but they didn't give it. Also I can tell you I think that the flash memory was made too small on purpose. If they make enough money on this venture you can bet that Apple will release a different version of the Iphone with UMTS and more memory so it can sell phones all over again to the same customers. That's call making money hand over fist.
I don't use a wireless phone at all 'cause I have no one to call and no one wants to call me, most of the time. However a personal MP3 player is a must, it's fun and not too expensive.

I have a mp3 player, use it more than my cell phone. I just have a phone for emergencies, and when I'm on the road, cause hardly no one calls me, lol.

i use a 3G broadband card for my internet access. i would never have bought the iphone if it was for internet. plus i just graduated from a 2GB ipod nano to this so as far as space is concerned it's more than enough. other than that, being able to sync up my contacts and calendar events along with browser bookmarks just by plugging in a cable is pretty nice. seeing as how i make a living on the road a cell phone is pretty necessary. besides, it's been a year and a half since i've upgraded any of my gear and it will probably be at least that or more before i will again.
i just think it's a neat phone.

Who needs a fancy phone when you can have a nice PDA with more computing power and capabilities? And replaceable batteries!

Eh. I prefer to be lo-tech. I know. How lame, right? Less things for my brain to have to wrap itself around. And easier on the wallet, too, as far as that goes.
