Yo Tastyfreshers!

You can now order a professional release of Mint's mix CD called Vapor! The following link goes to an ecommerce page to take your order. The ecommerce page also allows you to check out all the artwork. Click on the "Rotate Case" button in the upper left part of the page. So if you are a big fan/friend of Mint DJ or want to check out the CD, please visit the following:

http://Kunaki.com/Sales.asp?PID=PX00ZB3T3E

Depending on where you live in the US, the CD is only $7-8 dollars. The small amount of profit after Kunaki's cut is going to my home church. The mix is really good and the theme of the CD is awesome! Let me know what you think after you have received the CD. I am using Kunaki to produce/print/duplicate/shrink wrap this project! The quality is fantastic and they have zero minimum.

Enjoy!

...this mix is from This Week at Beatport, the June 2nd mix sans the last tune. I didn't find out later that the track had some questionable spoken word so I removed it for this mix.

just curious...no judgement here.  I am wondering... how are you selling this?

thought that wasn't legal with the copyright on the individual tracks and royalties.

thanks

It is unless you pay royalties and clear the tracks with the copyright owners first.

I think after the total cut from Kunaki, the profit is like a 1.40 per cd. Since I will be making a majority of the orders to use as demos and promotional copies, with zero profit, I figured any additional profit I would give to the church. I didn't think much about it till after I set the sale price. Once the order is set I can not change the price. My next cd with be set at zero. Thank you for the post.

doesnt sound legal to me...anybody else really know how this works with royalties.  I didnt think you were able to bring in any money even if you give it elsewhere.  You are not even allowed to cover the cost of wear and tear on gear or anything involved.  royalties must be paid.

Geoff...not trying to sound like a jerk or calling you out.  This actually looks pretty fun to do and something i'd like to do also, but just trying to find out if what you are doing is legit.

Yeah, as far as I can tell the site doesn't mention anything about handling the licensing for anything you don't hold the copyright for. For selling a mix CD through that site to be legit, you'd probably need to negotiate mechanical licensing (publishing isn't as big of a deal because of compulsory licensing on that front) with the respective artists/labels yourself, and really for more underground stuff that might not be nearly as difficult as it sounds. Neat little service, though.

Great posts. I am not trying to make money. I am using Kunaki to make me promotional CDs to hand out for free. Yes, I should have set the sale price at $1.60. I will do this in the future. Thank you for your posts. I appreciate it.
