I have an anxiety problem.  I usually know how to control it and I know when I will have panic attacks so I know how to prepare or avoid at most times but, I'm a bit overloaded at the moment and a bit spiritually low.  There are some crazy new developments in the music realm that are looming and freaking me out and school starts again in three weeks and I don't feel prepared or up the the challenge that will consume my life over the next 6 months.

There's a lot more stuff I can't really tell you about as this would turn into a dissertation of mass proportions but these are some of my worries :-)

At any rate, if you have a moment I wouldn't mind being brought before God as I know He can provide the peace that I need to get through everything.

Sometimes, things in life do get to be too much.  But, there are things you can do.  Don't forget to take care of yourself, and take time to relax.  Everybody's different, but I think for most of us, stress zaps us of our energy, but just allow your body to rest whenever possible.  It needs it.  Also, do things you enjoy to take your mind off of it.  Spend time with friends.  Go talk to a counselor or therapist if you need to.  Then, there's always medication.  It's not a bad thing.  Some people are born with chemical deficiencies, and it helps them out a lot.  Just some things to consider.

Being one that literally has debilitating panic attacks and anxiety disorder,  I can totally sympathise with you Joel.  Here's my tips for you in dealing with them.

1.  the most important thing is to realize what's going on.  Your body is telling your brain "I'm dying",  but your brain is saying to your body "Nope,  we're just fine!"  Realizing that your having a panic attack is the key,  because then you're in control of a situation where you feel like you've lost total control.

2.  after you realize what's happening,  take 10 deep breaths,  exhaling twice as slow as you inhaled.  Sometimes this alone can bring your heart rate back under control.  basically,  you're having to hit the reset button on your body.

3.  Find something to focus on in your head.  I usually go backwards through the list of US Presidents.  When I run out of those,  I go forwards through Brittish Monarchs,  starting at the House of Plantagenet.

4.  Physical activity.  Make the rest of your body match the speed of your heart.  Once you get up there,  gradually bring it back to rest.  Anything is goos...Even laps around your living room work.

5.  Modify your diet to avoid caffeine as much as possible.  Caffeine is a stimulant,  and that's the last thing you need when you're prone to flipping out.

6.  If all else fails,  see a doctor.  There's some really good treatments for panic attacks/anxiety disorder.

Lord I pray that the peace of Christ would reign in Joel.  I pray that he would listen to Godly wisdom to people who know what they are talking about.  I pray that the false knowledge would fall and that the right knowledge would penetrate his mind and his soul so he can effectively deal with the problem.  May Godly people enter his path and encourage him and point him in the right direction.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen.

medication can help. see a doctor and ask God if its right for you. i know it worked for me.

i am disagnosed with obsessive comulsive disorder with psychosis and major depression. i went off my meds cause i thought it would bring more glory to God if i did it relying only on Him. well i ended up with bleeding hands from washing so much and 120lbs cause i felt i was sinning when i ate. went to the hospital got back on my meds and i'm as good as new... better even. so medication isn't a bad thing.

Hey man...I'm def. praying for you.  The cool thing is...they don't call Jesus the Price of Peace for nothing!!!  Whenever I get frustrated and confused and feel myself start shutting down...I think of this song by Rich Mullins:

Well, sometimes my life
Just don't make sense at all
When the mountains look so big
And my faith just seems so small

So hold me Jesus, 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

And I wake up in the night and feel the dark
It's so hot inside my soul
I swear there must be blisters on my heart

So hold me Jesus, 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

Surrender don't come natural to me
I'd rather fight You for something
I don't really want
Than to take what You give that I need
And I've beat my head against so many walls
Now I'm falling down, I'm falling on my knees

And this Salvation Army band
Is playing this hymn
And Your grace rings out so deep
It makes my resistance seem so thin

So hold me Jesus, 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

Hope you're feeling better about things!!!
