He was a member. He constantly started fights. He, like most of those who debated politics AND theology on this site (myself included), had his politics setting his theological beliefs rather than his theological beliefs setting his politics. He firmly believed that the ONLY God inspired translation of the Bible was the 1611 edition of the King James Version which has actually been documented as one of the worst/inaccurate version of the KJV ever.
Seriously... you should have seen his website. All a political rant steeped in poorly interpreted prophecy and pointed to the USA as the worst of God's enemies on Earth. Supposedly, he was ex-CIA too or knew someone who was who informed him of all of these things.
Anyway... yeah... he's ONE of the main drivers behind the rule. Jamey and I constantly banned him and he constantly found ways back on the site. It wasn't until the 3rd or so version of these forums that I finally had him off the site. The only way we could keep track of him was his IP so his name eventually became IPguy.
Another thing that happened that led to the banning of these discussions was one thread about the end times where people were debating
preterism. We lost at least 2 important members over that one.
We lost even more people simply because they grew tired of the infighting and wanted to get serious about their music careers. This site was not only dragging them down, but it was holding them back.
Just about every day I think about these things and we just can't go back to that. Nobody truly grew spiritually during those times. What happened was we found reasons to hate each other and to not work with each other.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't have these discussions with people on this site when we meet them in person. I'm saying that once you meet someone in real life, you can better understand where they are coming from, read their body language, and more fluidly make your point and discuss all sides of the issue. Body language and vocal intonation is VERY important to properly communicate in these discussions. Plus... it's hard to get mad at anyone yer sharing a Strawberry Avalanche with at Cstone.
