I'm getting sick of landscaping, even though it's extremely flexible... I just don't make enough money and I don't want to crawl around on my knees anymore...

So last weekend I found an A/V Production vacancy with Veterans Affairs... just finished filling out the application and uploading all the necessary documents... the vacancy announcement closes on the 23rd.

So keep me in your prayers.

wel it's not going well.  Kiss  The application was rejected for lack of experience...apparently 4 years of full time work isn't equivalent to their demand for 18 credit hours towards a bachelors degree  smiley23 ...or one year experience...  smiley18

So I called the recruitment office to ask of a reconsideration...and it'll be a bit before I hear back on that.

Do you have one year of experience in A/V production?

Could it be that they simply had a large pool of more qualified candidates?

yea...3 years with music, 1.5 years in video (thats just the feature not counting shorts and current projects)  ...thats the full time stuff...plus part time 8 years volunteering sound at church, 1 year fashion photography,  plus I'm the global 'go-to guy' going on 3 years now for Aardvark Audio product support (defunct manufacturer for recording sound cards and word clocks)

Plus I DO have an Associate of Arts Degree...

With the VA it's unlikely that there was any competition for the vacancy... because it was the health administration side...and nobody thinks of them except nurses and doctors...  in any case it should have at least been forwarded for consideration.  I can take people thinking I suck Smiley

I _should_ hear back from them tomorrow.

You'd be VERY surprised when it comes to government jobs like that. Here at the U, we can have 50+ applications for a job opening and three months later have 3 for the same type of opening in the same department. You just never know.

Final result is in -

It's not being forwarded.

They don't want to count the band at all towards audio experience...

Basically, they agreed that I do have enough experience to be forwarded but that because I didn't properly account for all of it on the actual resume the only thing they can apply is part of the movie... 1700hours out of 1900hours towards a necessary total of  2087hours

In actuality I'm well above 7000 hours - if I include the band.... but because I didn't explain how that relates to audio production they didn't count any of those 4000hours...

and only 3 other people had their applications forwarded.
