Electro.... I would dare say there is NO bigger word in the definition of some of the best hits currently in dance music.  Be careful though... it may eventually turn into the trance word... ie... negative vibes attached with it.

go to beatport.com  and check out the electrohouse section and listen to the top 10 or top 100 or whatever.  You'll get the idea.

electro real hot right now.

From where I view it,  Electro is more of an element than a genre...It's kinda like calling something "Progressive" or "Acid" or "Hard"

Cool Yes I noticed that too, Electrco is definately getting some attention recently. I have this mix on one of my cd's, I dont know if it was Electro, and I have no idea who it is by, but it sure is wierd and is now of my fav mixes. If Electro bekomes werid and some what "Psychedelic" or even Tranzey oh man that would be cool.  laugh  Wink

I've been playing quite a bit of electro lately. Granted I do still blur the lines with other genres, but I definitely try to stay in that vibe for the most part.

There is electro-trance out there... the new Anjunabeats volume 5 CDs have quite a heavy electro flavour to them. Esp. look out for Joonas Hahmo - Together [Anjunabeats] not released yet, but its fantastic housy-electro-progressive-trance.

AHHHH! electro! Grin im so hooked on this sound... and have been for a lil bit now. its been brewing and bubbleing with hottness for a little while now.... building into this explosion of new tracks from all over, both house and trance. Its creating a blend of the two genres that make me very excited to see what still to come! working progressive house and trance tracks withe this "electro" sound is toooo much fun. the sound is fun too! i like the whole funkey groove it carries!!!

yup. it's an adjective now for anything that uses any instrument that was on the 1st depeche mode or new order albums. heheh Wink

the name recently came from elektroclash (fisherspooner, tiga, etc etc), which took the name & the style from the original elektro (IE kraftwerk & Africa Bambaata. listen to "planet rock" it's the definitive electro song)  in betwen these 2 was elektrobreaks, et al. (see dj icey)

orig electro influenced Juan Atkins who pretty much started detroit techno.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I’m found.
Was blind, but now I see.
