My new concealed weapons permit finally arrived in the mail, and it made me wonder...

Anyone else on TF concealed carry?  I'm a big pro-firearms kinda guy so it's only natural that I feel better with a pistol on my hip, but what about everyone else here?

With the ammo I've got it loaded with...yeah.

Muzzle velocity of about 1000fps and 200ft-lbs of energy.

Can't afford a gun, so I don't have any permit.  (In California, you need a permit just to own a handgun, and you can't keep it loaded without ANOTHER permit.  Wink )

The process is so long, I'll just wait until I move into a more permanent residency before beginning that paper trail.

Dag. 1000fps. That's like running Q3 Arena on an 8800. Sweet.

In San Fran, you can't even get a permit from what I understand and... until a judge recently overturned a Washington DC law, you couldn't keep a gun disassembled and keep the parts stored in the same box.

We have some nutty gun laws around here. Funny how crime is also higher in those cities.

For me, the spousal gun laws are stricter than the federal, state, and local gun laws. Wink

Permits in SF are difficult, but legally possible.  Most of CA what you run into is more of the Sheriffs not wanting to authorize them and there being no legal statute to prevent them from denying applications for no reason at all.  Thankfully WA is shall-issue and they have to give it to you or give you the reason why not.  We don't specifically allow open carry, though.  That's totally lame...but whatever.  At least I don't have to register my weapons.  Smiley

maybe it was loading the gun and having ammo. I know in SF there is some wacky law that makes owning a gun useless.

Open carry worked for the old west and ppl were a LOT more polite back then too Wink Shame that didn't get reflected well in the movies.

Good answer man. No offense guys but I wouldn't tell ya if I was packin' either. I had a friend goto jail on a false "brandishing gun" claim just becuase he bragged about it to some meat head that later decided he didn't like my buddy anymore.

If you have a license to carry, they can't touch you for talking about having one on you.

However... bragging about what you carry is NOT smart over all. Someone might know what you are talking about and know better than you what their chances of surviving what you throw at them are.

You know the old rule: Never bring a knife to a gun fight. Well... it works the other way around too (sometimes).  If he knows you have a gun, he just has to pull the knife when he's close to you. So... all he has to to is act "normal" until he's withing arms reach. You won't even have  a chance to get that gun out.
