Oh yeah... in a wreck... you better hope the airtank isn't punctured. The air is compressed to over 4,000 psi! That would be a nasty missile.

Answered myself: has to run UNDER 40 mph. Electric cars are faster. Plus, based on the videos here, http://www.ecogeek.org/content/view/659/, it seems pretty noisy.

Defin NOT what I want in a car.

under 40? In atlanta... that's suicidal! You have to go at least 15 over or you're dead meat. The standard speed limit is 45.

Under 40? The article rodimus linked says:

The CityCat model will clock out at 68 mph with a driving range of 125 miles.

It would be great for city driving. You wouldn't burn up any fuel while you're stopped in traffic. At least I'd assume you wouldn't. There shouldn't be any need for the engine to idle when you're stopped.

Now, to watch those videos....

Two people drift in a lifeboat. One says, "I see an island. Our best chance is to go ashore, build a shelter, and await rescue." The others says, "No, we must go farther out to sea and hope to find the shipping lanes." Unable to agree, the two fight, the lifeboat capsizes, and they drown.

65-70 is the highest speed limit anyway. sounds great to me. i wouldnt even want to drive that thing on the freeway anyway. i cant imagine driving when the santa ana winds are blowing or a huge gust of wind in the desert hits me.

In Atlanta... you have to do 60 just to keep up with the traffic in a 45 zone. I don't like maxing out a car for long periods of time.

i hear ya on that. i've lived in SoCal the majority of my life. it seems as if you arent driving at least 20 miles over the speed limit you're a slow driver.

i wouldn't worry about that.  the demand is too high for plain old gas powered cars.  they're much cheaper.
