So I was reading the manual (brilliant idea, huh??) and I stumbled upon this :

Hint: Session View slots can be assigned to a MIDI note range for chromatic playing: First
play the root key (this is the key that will play the clip at its default transposition), and then, while holding down the root key, hold one key below the root and one above it to define the limits of the range.

Tried it out and it sounds good too!!  Fun part is you are assigning this to the slots not the actual clips so no matter what you drop in those slots you can transpose it on the fly!!   Grin Grin

hurh? So each adjusted pitch needs to be on a slot? So... I'd need like 12 slots?

no no no!

Select a slot... press CTRL-M... press a midi note ... say middle C...  now holding down Middle C hit D... now still holding down middle C, hit E, etc etc...

now press CTRL-M...

now press middle C.. should hear your song/loop/sample/whatever in the original key... now hit D... it steps up!

Deeflash-Does this work with midi clips? That would be awesome to transpose chords or phrases for example up and down the scale.

Also did you know about loopback automation?  Use midiox.com - midiyoke to send midi from midi yoke back to midi yoke in on another track, so assign trigger notes for clips and then they come back to a track that is triggered by those notes (basically letting the computer trigger your clips instead of you doing it manually with a keyboard).

not to mention you could put Pd in between the midi yoke and have all kinds of things be done to the midi when certain criteria are met.

for example i read an autechre interview on sound on sound where they described how they do their incredibly complex edits ... they have a drum phrase respond to velocity and on a certain value it triggers a little fill or roll, on another value it triggers a separate beat marker in the loop... way way intense programming but made easy with Pd (pure data), i will give this a try this year post-Cornerstone and see what happens
