hey I just downloaded a demo of Deckadance and DJ Sixty Six has an idea that he thinks just might work. His idea is to copy the tones from a time coded vinyl record such as Final Scratch onto a CD and therefore we should be able to use CD decks as the controller for Deckadance. In theory, I don't see it actually working, however I'd LOVE to find out. Afterall, the software just looks for the tones, right? I would still need the usb interface to run the cd decks through, but this could work?

Any thoughts?

Well... the time coded tones are USUALLY tied to a specific software. I don't think you could mix the two. NOW... rather than copy it from vinyl... just either get NI's Traktor scratch or M-Audio's Torque. BOTH can use CD decks and have time code cds as well as vinyl.

For those who don't know what we're talking about: http://www.flstudio.com/blog/60_blog.php?action=frontpage&entry_id=1178552781

Quote
Vinyl control – The following Time Code Vinyls and CDs have been certified to work with Deckadance - Stanton FinalScratch, Serato Scratch Live, MixVibes, and msPinky. All other vinyls and timecode CDs can be ‘learnt’ using the inbuilt Deckadance Time Code calibration system.

Ok... Chris... go buy the time code cds Smiley

When I tried the beta version, I thought it was very solid. I just suck at beatmatching and like all systems, you kinda have to have some skills at that still. Well... all but ableton... normally.

you know, since Deckadance can operate as a VST, you could run that in Live and if you can control DD with final scratch vinyl, you got yourself an ultimate dj setup, Live and Deckadance.  Cause it would be cool if Live had some mode you could switch and do the vinyl control, but Deckadance can do that.

There is a plugin/module out there for Live that will let you pitch bend and stuff though. Just not scratch.

i think torq runs as a rewire slave, which is cool cause it will pull the sync info from live, and you can put vst effects on the rewire channel!

drop rewire. It sucks. Make it VST it's much more flexible.
