Yeah... it was a bit campy at times, but I thought it was a nice twist.
Nah, I didn't think it was too campy at all. The other two films had their campy moments, too. I cracked up at "Emo" Spidey. That was hilarious.
If you recall, Spiderman 2 had the
really
campy part with "Raindrops falling on my head."
Oh, and from what I've heard, this is the last Spiderman movie for Tobey McGuire or Kirsten Dunst.
That sux. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing them, and having the continuity work at all.

Like I said... rumor has it that they all are signed on for 7 films. #4 is already in the works too:

I'm with Nyx. We heard that Tobey and Dunst are done. It's never good to replace your main roles. They'll have to pull something really good out of the box if they're gonna replace those two.

The only way I could see them replacing those two is if the storyline is later in life and the characters need to be a bit older. Didn't that scientist guy keep part of the venom "material"? Maybe that is a way they could bring back the character in the next flick. From what I read, Venom is suppose to help Spidey beat Carnage, so a resurrection of sorts should be in order.

Well... George Lucas didn't like Spidey.

Lucas told me he has seen all the summer movies since his company, Industrial Light and Magic, does most of the special effects. The only one they didn't work on was "Spider-Man 3." What did he think of it?
"It's silly. It's a silly movie," he said. "There just isn't much there. Once you take it all apart, there's not much story, is there?"
Well, it's not "Star Wars."
"People thought 'Star Wars' was silly, too," he added, with a wink. "But it wasn't."
Ok... so... there's nothing to a story about forgiveness and the dangers of revenge and hatred. Ok... No wonder he's not a Christian. But still as a Buddhist, I would have expected that he'd get it. Hmmmm...

the ending made it for me. the forgiveness theme can only really be appriciated by people who have had to really live out forgiveness for someone who has done something that really hurt them. i have to walk in a fraction of that and know how hard that is. the symbolism of scene with spidy in the clocktower and the scene before it (the jaz club) is REALLY amazing.

I understand that some people don't like it for the reasons they mentioned, and there are a number of people out there who feel the same, so I can't argue, you guys have a point.
Personally I loved it though!
I don't think the revenge and forgiveness themes were over people's heads though, I think they were explained pretty thouroughly in the film!

i dunno, you could replace Dunst with just about any other actress out there and they would probably do it better lol.

ok, so I finally after seven months get to see Spiderman over the holidays.
*Spoilers, if you still haven't seen it*
on with the review.....
- showing Sandman as real killer, kinda shows shotty police work imo, but permissible for the movie.
- I remember him fighting more villians as black spidey.
- Emo imagine was taken too far.
- Matt's ending would of only worked if previous statement was done, esp in bar scene.
- They had it where he could put on the back suit, when reality he couldn't since it was a symbiont.
- shouldn't of killed harry.
- liked the whole forgiveness, revenge theme ya'll mentioned.
- yeah, if there is a piece of the symbiont in the lab, possibly Venom or Carnage can come into the picture.
Doc Oct Alive? Also they need to keep Toby, Kristen can be replaced or kept.
other than that, I liked the film.

Glad you liked it! It asn't as good as Spidey 2, but it was still a good time with some neat things

Yeah he had the black costume for a lot longer in the comics, in fact he had it for months at least during Secret Wars before he returned to earth, and then for awhile after that before he found out it was a living alien symbiote. Obviously they couldn't do all that in one several hour movie though.

Emo imagine was taken too far.
Yeah, it was by far the worst part of the movie, and the #1 complaint. Thanks hollywood.

- They had it where he could put on the back suit, when reality he couldn't since it was a symbiont.
I think what you mean is in the comics he didn't take the suit off and then put it back on a lot, like his normal one. It stayed on him quite a bit of the time, and could change it's appearance to look like normal street clothes and such, so he didn't have a need to take it off. He was able to take it off when he wanted to though, and would take it off at night when he slept, only to have it creep it's way back.
When he finally went to Reed Richards (Fantastic Four) to find out more about the costume's strange abilities, he found out it was an alien symbiote and they were able to remove it. They discovered it had not permanently bonded with him yet, so that's why he was able to still take it on and off at will.
Of course when it knew he knew what it was, it didn't want to let him take it off, but he got it off with some help from Reed.
They underestimated it though, and it escaped back to his apartment to disguise itself as one of his spare red and blue suits, and he unwittingly put it on again. When he realized the alien was attached to him again, he went to the church to use the bells to get it off.
I think thats where they came up with the idea to have him be able to take it on and off again in the movie, and it was possible in the comics too, so they were sort of right, it just wasn't portrayed in quite the same way.
Again I think it's because they only had so much time in several hour movie, so they tried to keep the concept simple for people.

shouldn't of killed harry
That WAS a bummer

That was one of my favorite things about this movie!
