It ROCKED
I LOVED it!
It teaches the power of forgiveness, and does an amazing job showing how revenge is wrong.
Great action, special effects, and drama, awesome stuff!

It has a great message, yes, and wonderful special effects, but that's par for the course. Unfortunately it's the delivery that disappointed me. It was a lot of great setup and buildup to an ending that was rushed and lost its impact if you ask me. Sure, --I-- understood it well, because I'm a Christian and think about it on a daily basis. Everyone else? Not so sure they'll really get it because it wasn't delivered well.
Just my opinion.

i felt like it was ok...not horrible, good but not spectacular. the ending felt kind of like a let down for me...i kind of wanted to be set up for another spidey movie and i don't feel like they did that. also, it just felt like the timing of the ending was a little off, they needed something more exciting to end the flick. just my .02.

I have the perfect ending figured out but to post it would be a spoiler.

Okay. Well, first off they needed to lose the cheese when he was under the venom influence. That was funny and all, but it was wasted filmtime they could have used to make the final battle a bit longer, which is why it was anticlimactic to me. You get to the 'big ending' and it's over in like, two or three minutes and you're like, HUH? What?
Now, as far as the perfect ending? Simple. The camera goes into the bar where Mary Jane is singing. It zooms in and you see Aunt May's ring on her finger. Then Peter walks in and sits down IN THE FRONT ROW, like he did at her musical, and just sits there watching her sing with a satisfied smile on his face. BAM. PERFECT ENDING.

My wife and I loved it. No complaints at all. Seriously. Yeah... it was a bit campy at times, but I thought it was a nice twist. Stan Lee's appearance though... that stole the show for me for some reason. It was a great "middle" film. The campy stuff was just as good as what was in Star Trek 4.
The only thing is... Matt, you are right, that forgiveness theme is above some ppl's heads. We heard several ppl say they didn't understand why so and so well... got to go free.
Oh... and your ending would have been PERFECT... if they weren't going to drag that issue out to Spidey 4

See, my wife and I were under the impression that this was the last spiderman.
If it is, then I think they tried to do too much. But if not, hmmmmmmm.
Still, given basic story mechanics, it would have been the perfect symbolism to a happy ending.
And don't get me wrong, I thought the cheese was hilarious. I just felt that, if they had lost it, they could have invested more time in the ending.

Yeah I saw also with a bunch of my friends last night. I thought it did have a good message that one man can make a difference....and you can choose to do the right thing. Yeah the action and special effects and all were cool and so yeah it was a winner in my book.
And plus I hear it broke box office records for best opening weekend! Go spidy!

Rumor has it that the cast is signed on for a total of 7 films.

The ending was long enough. I don't know why ppl think that fight should be longer. All the good-byes too... it was at risk already of feeling like the end of Return of the King where 40 min of the movie was nothing but good-byes
Now, if they wanted to remind ppl that part of venom was still back at the U's lab or show what they did with the withering part that was still burning at the construction site... that would have been fine.
They still left a LOT open for another film.
BTW, did you see the poster in the newspaper office that said Doc Oct was still alive?

There was no mention... just a poster hanging on a wall. That's all. I swear though... venom is still alive.
