I was hoping the entire show could be broadcasted live, but apparently there's no internet connectivity at the venue. The promoter, DJ Sleek, will be recording it however.

Geez... first they want Trance, now the promoter says "everyone", whoever that is, is screaming for Breaks. So I guess I'll be spinning a funky Breaks set. My question is this...

How many of you have been "urged" what to spin at an event, and how did you handle the request? Truth be told, if flyers hadn't already been printed up, I'd probably bag to the whole thing. But I don't want to be labeled as a "no show". On the more positive side, I've not spun Breaks in a while and it'll be a nice change. All that aside, I'm really looking forward to it! I'll be getting started on the set this weekend. I'll post a download link on my website when it's ready.

 Cool You know I will be looking foward to that one. BTW, are the rest of the sets by the other DJ's going to be recorded as well, and are the other DJ's Christian too.  Cool

I've been told that the entire event will be recorded. As for whether or not the other DJ's are Christian... I couldn't say. I'll have to "clean up" my set to get it to a "PG" rating. There's a couple of records with rather explicit lyrics.

Great gig, and I had a blast! 'Got some compliments on my set from the promoter, several of the listeners and the other DJ's. The B-Boys were eatin' it up! The DJ that came on before was spinnin' D&B and I was a little concerned how I was going to tastfully drop my first record on the tail end of his set, since I've not followed a D&B DJ before. So I got everything queued up, and waited for the breakdown on his last record, then slowly pushed up the channel fader. It was beautiful, like I'd rehearsed it 100-times before. I've got some pics, although a couple of them are slightly out of focus. We had a pretty decent turn-out. Hopefully the promoter will have some more events coming up! The promoter, also one of the D&B DJ's, recorded the entire event. I'll be posting a d/l link as soon as I get it.

You know... I prayed about this event, asking God that everything goes well, that nothing got out of hand, etc.., and it went off w/o a hitch. It's just now beginning to sink in to me the extent of His faithfulness. In that prayer, I made a promise to Him that if it went well, I would start mixing music that glorified Him and had a positive, uplifting message. I'm really getting into D&B lately and would like some feedback on some labels, etc. to be on the look out for in that genre that meet that criteria. Anyone got any suggestions?
