beau emailed me asking if i could provide some beats for a video he was putting together. he said he wanted it to have the feel of "lazy sunday." i watched it dozens of times, making notes about flow, arrangement, instrumentation, etc.
loaded up reason. created a very similar beat with redrum. dirtited it up. brought in a piano patch for that nasty low end. decided i didn't want to totally bite what they had done, so backed up a bit. loaded a dr. rex and started browsing through the reason factory sounds - hip hop folder. loop 1? no. loop 2? no. loop 3? oh my goodness, that's the main piano loop! loop 4? that's one of the breakdowns.
ends up all of "lazy sunday" was made with factory reason loops, tweaked a bit with the cuts. why reinvent the wheel, i thought. recreated the arrangement, added some extra seasonings, scratches, and a little wormy.
