Now, If I were to meet a person such as Kaylee, I would show her the same True Love that Messiah has shown and given me. I would not call them a nympo or an erotomaniac, because I know that there are thousands of things that I don't know of the actual person.....

nymphomania & erotomania are serious psychological pathologies.  kaylie isn't a nymphomaniac because she wants to sleep with someone.  i know a lot of people like kaylie who have become my friends over the years....

..how about you guys?

haha... actually... after actually looking up the real definition... She really can't be. At least... I don't see it. I mean... she seems VERY controlled to me.

yeah. sorry if i come across as confontational about a lot of stuff lately...i've just been thinking through some stuff.

ya know? sin is sin.  here's how christians think of sin, though:

I'm a glutton.  but that's OK in the good old USA.  yeah, i shouldn't eat junk food for health reasons, but no big deal.
I gossip. OK, the bible says not to do that along with homosexuality, but it's not really as serious as all that, right? after all, God knows my heart.  It's just my little problem, that's all..i'm 98% of the way there, i just need to work on this litttle, tiny problem i have.
having sex before marriage is a sin.  that's officially frowned upon by the church & taught against, but it's going on everywhere, even inside the church (at the same frequency as outside the church).
having sex with someone else when your marries is unforgivable. you're given a life sentence by the christian community and can never come back in...at least anywhere that you used to associate.
having gay sex is the equivalent of torturing puppies & killing babies. it's perverse & dirty and unforgivable & these people are being punished for their unforgivable sin by God & all ought to die.

is this really how God sees it?

i don't think so....as a matter of fact i'm fairly certain that's NOT how God sees it.

You can't look at it that way (my sin isn't that bad compared to your sin) simply b/c Romans says even 1 is enough, regardless of severity, to separate you from God. So yeah... Biblically speaking, I think you're right.

Anyway... We're in the spiritual discussion area... let's move away from there. Wink

Personally, I found "Serenity" boring, campy, and shallow.

(There, Dave, that should get things moved away from the SD area!)

Dude... that just REALLY summarized my opinion beyond what I had really expressed. It is a boring, campy and shallow program. There's no real depth to ANYTHING there. Not in the plot, they only HINT at an over all plot (talking series here mostly) and the characters are barely up to the archetype level of: hooker, mechanic, brute, holy man, smuggler, doctor, deeply hurt girl and so on. There really isn't any true character development in the entire series.

**GASP**

Wow, I honestly can't believe you said that!

Given that I love it so much, I can't imagine someone thinking that!

I'm not going to debate it though, I'll get too carried away, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I'll just say again that it's my favorite Sci Fi movie of all time, and I'm a big fan of the genre so I've seen a lot.

I think it's pretty special, and I thought there was plenty of character development.

i didn't say i look at it that way..i said many christians do.

of course we can't discuss it...because we woulnd't want to challenge each other to grow spiritually around here or anything...back to serenity.

Buffy and Angel probably added to my disappointment with Serenity. Whedon let me down. Roll Eyes (B & A were two of the best shows on TV, ever.)

Oh, and so that I can annoy both sides in this discussion: The graph of my opinion of the Star Wars movies would be an inverse logarithmic function (starting out pretty high, but heading south quickly).

haha... Come on Davo... didn't you see my post about how the SW movies suck? I'm more into the books. There is no snap. Lucas had his moment... and drained it. He shoulda let other ppl direct the new trilogy... and tweak the screenplays.

B&A... there's no excuse for those shows. Actually, I can't say that. I've never seen more than 5 min of either simply b/c vampires aren't my thing at all. I barely made it through Blade I.

you know most of the letdown with the show was due to the network, right?  they wouldn't reair the pilot, so they had to make a '2nd pilot' with "lots of action" (that train robbery one.)
the network didn't even air the episodes in order & didn't air 2-3 or them.  the show wasn't even given a chance to get off the ground...

Sounds similar to what SciFi Channel did with "Crusade" ( a Babylon 5 spin-off). Interfered like crazy, broadcast eps out of sequence, finally canceling the series 13 eps in right when the plot was going to really take off. Bad channel. Very bad.
