Heh. So, I have been writing some posts on Creativity and Productivity lately. I don't really know what I am talking about, but it is always fun to put words on a page.
So, check out these two posts :
http://szeilenga.wordpress.com/2007/04/03/creativity-quantity-and-showing-off/
http://szeilenga.wordpress.com/2007/04/06/11-locate-and-avoideliminate-creativity-killers/
So, uh... yeah.

Those are excellent. The first article has tons of useful things! The second one I really relate too!
Only not movies....for me... video games. Namely, Battlefield 2. But I don't see it as anti or counterproductive. Yes, it saps my time. But often the will to create doesn't match my intensity or level of inspiration. I find I need some diversions, often hours at a time. I'm most productive after a brief week long hiatus from music. I agree that once it becomes addictive, there's little room for excuses there but realize there's a fine line between counterproductive habits and legitimate R'n'R activities.

Nice articles. I've come to think that anyone who wishes to try to make a living off of his/her creativity needs to spend time each day working on it... whether they want to or not. Being able to creatively "take out the trash" has become a stunning asset for me. After only a few months, you begin to have... a portfolio... (yay)

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I’m found.
Was blind, but now I see.
