For those of you who record and produce, and may not have had the cash or knowledge at the point of purchase of what an apogee Rosettta unit can sound like there is a solution out there for you.  I use a Motu 2408 Mk2, and have for a while.  It does some things pretty nicely and I would group it into the semi professional/project studio category along with Digidesign type units.  I just had the analog stage in the unit replaced with premium class "a" components from http://www.blacklionaudio.com and the sound quality improvement is unbelievable.  The other important step is to replace the word clock, this will only help recording from a mic, synth, outside going inside, but will give you professional quality.  The rumor is they are producing there own word clock box out in a few weeks.   Highly recommended for those doing vocals, using outboard synths, drum machines etc.  They also do cheaper brands like Maudio, but the work they do has been proven, and they get great ratings from audiophiles alike.   They are in Chicago.  Cool  If you got the money go for the Mytek products I think they are the best.
