An update of sorts:

So last week our administrative pastor had a meeting with California Baptist University to see if we could use a building on their property to throw this party. We were hoping against hope that they would say yes since the chances of Baptists agreeing to host a dance party are pretty slim  Wink So the meeting went well and CBU said we could use the building for $2000. Great news, right?! Well, my administrative pastor said no, that he would look else where since $2000 is too much  Shocked Roll Eyes

He cant be serious! Isnt $2000 average? Does he really think he will find a venue for cheaper? Im so mad that he is letting this amount of money stand in his way. I feel like there has got to be something more we can do? I mean, I know that the $2000 is just the tip of the ice burg as far as paying for this party, but I almost want to call and nag him a bit (5 years of marriage has made me good at nagging hehe) but I dont think that will get me anywhere. Im just so bummed. I hope we can find a new venue.

So that is my update, for those that knew about the crave.

$2000 is a lot for a church building. you can rent any number of buildings for cheaper than that  Grin

You charging anything at the door?  That would help cover some costs.

Well, you might be surprised. Maybe someone will find a nice big place for less than 2000. I threw a party a couple years ago that cost me all of 150 bucks. It turned out so cheap that we decided to do a food drive admission instead of tickets. So, it all worked out.

Keep it in prayer, I bet you will see a pretty cool outcome.

No, it would be a free event.

And the place isnt exactly a church building. CBU owns a huge lot of property. On part of the property there is the school, and on the other part there is a regular ol shopping center (ya know, with a Del Taco, JoAnns fabrics, a lil grocery store, etc.). On one side of the shopping center, there is a huge empty building (store) that would be perfect for the party. I guess $2000 is a bit pricey, I just assumed it was middle of the road as far as a venue for a dance party goes.

Im definately curious to see how this pans out. I really hope this doesnt mean we arent going to get to do it  Sad

You might wanna talk to my church..Crossroads. They have a big multi-purpose center with stage, sound & lighting, and big screens. It holds around 500 people...maybe more.
