Dude Hot Machete is my favorite Jonzetta track! I play it a LOT on The Show! Great to see it's getting some proper remix action!

I am enjoying your remix, but was wondering why there isn't much of the actual chorus in this?

Glad you like the Mix, Jonezetta Rocks! We saw them live here in Seattle when they came thru back in October of 06. The full chorus was used in our first mix but then the track sort of took on a life of it's own. We figured most others were all going to use the entire vocal track over the top of beats or what not and did not really want to go that route...However we could have sqeezed more of the chorus in but in the end just thought of this as a completely new track using just a few elements. Let's face it the original absolutely Rocks! We did not want to just do the typical remix so we decided to take a few of many parts that make the original sound great and just roll with it. ABS remixes usually try to take some of the parts of tracks and make an entirely new mix (as you can tell from our mix of The Echoing Green Suffer) not necessarily following the original just trying to add our own creative touches. Hopefully in the end it does the original some justice but can also take on new direction and meaning. Hopefully the guys in Jonzetta dig it!

Thanks for listening!

While it does give a whole new spin on the track, I fear that the lack of recognizable vocal hooks (such as the opening verse line "Welcome to the life of the big casino") might make your track foreign to the listener and therefore not as favored as some of the others that give the listener what they expect to hear. Don't get me wrong, musically the track rocks, lyrically it's a bit on the teasing side. You hear these teases of the track and you wait for the big moment when the payoff kicks in and payday never comes. It ends up being a journey down a very unfamiliar road.

Yes, it is risky to strip out some of the vocal hooks, but we are hoping that it will be heard for what it is which is a completely new mix with nods to to the original. Our hope would be that it stands out as original and seperates from the rest. We were going to release one more mix which did include more vocals and had a different vibe but time is not on our side to complete this before the deadline so we went out on a limb. Remixes are actually very tough because they are so subjective... and in general have been all over the map Genre wise and which parts are used and not used for any remix. You can drive yourself mad second guessing yourself if you try and make the track for specific listeners... trance, breaks, house, ect. No matter what you choose you are going to neglect listeners. At the end of the day, as artists ourselves we just need to be happy with the track as a whole and win or lose move on. It is always good to gain other perspectives. I really appreciate your feedback!

Jonezetta is amazing!  Their bass player that reminds me of Jack Black cracks me up.  I got to see them last fall with Mute Math & Shiny Toy Guns.
